To contest a VO’s finding, you have to sue them to court in Canada. If you are not an immigration attorney yourself, you have to hire one who will represent you through the judicial review process which is a two stage process and can be very expensive. One person on this forum went that route of contesting the VO’s decision and was successful. Took him 8 months and cost him almost $3500. But he was successful and issued a visa after less than 10 minutes interview at the Canadian High Commission in Lagos. If you don’t have that kind of money and time on your hands, your best bet is to refuel and file another application and tackle grounds of denial using a powerful SOP to explain better your circumstances.

No immigration attorney in Canada will charge you $3,500 for a judicial case review, not even the well-known Attorney David Cohen. Most immigration attorneys in Canada cost CAD$1,500-$CAD1700

The rest of the information provided by Attorney General jnyuwa02 are absolutely correct.

jnyuwa02 is very correct. I can confirm that the price for judicial review is between $ 2500- 3500.

Hello Kishkosh,

If this were to be an online application, it doesn't take much for a decision to be made on an applicant application, this happens within 2hrs-72hrs. On the contrary if paper application, when an upfront medical has been updated as passed, it takes some couple of weeks for a decision to be made.

So be hopeful!

Okay. Thank you sir

Mr Frankrobbn1, mcobex and jnyuwa02
pls, going by the trend of applications you've come across. After 'UPFRONT' medicals has been updated, how long does it take for them to determine one's eligibility?
My eligibility started yesterday and I'm kinda curious and anxious
No specific timeframe, just be hopeful and pray the vo is fast about it and above all favour you. If it were to be medical on request, CIC will update your profile to medical pass and approval(from 3 days and above )

jnyuwa02:

Sometimes the online profile updates has a mind of its own and change arbitrarily or not change at all when it suppose to change. If I were to take a good guess though, your review of eligibility started and It was forwarded to a VO who decided they needed to vet something else further before he/she can make a decision. So your file returned to the vetting department.
With the bolded you sounded like someone that had worked at CIC previously. Nobody can guess how these lads do their jobs

Frankrobbn1:

Online application! Send it to Lagos and London visa offices. These are the offices in charge of online applications.

All the best!

You guys are doing a great job here but I'll like to implore you to refrain from these kind of assumptions.
While majority of online applications from Nigeria are processed at the bolded, the list is not exhaustive as pockets of online applications are also processed elsewhere like Abu Dhabi and Ankara. I'm saying this because a lot of people access this forum and take the information absolutely.

Confirmed! A qualified Canadian attorney charges CAD$3000-4000 and cost varies from case to case.

MeinKampf,

So far, How many online applications have you seen that was processed at Abu Dhabi and Ankara? Nobody is playing a guess work here. The simple fact remains that most online applications I have seen are currently processed in London, minority goes for Lagos. It was at the beginning of this year when some applications were treated at Turkey and Dubai not anymore.

Only the required docs go to NAIROBI. Other optional docs that support your application stay back here. This is coupled with the strict nature of NAIROBI VOs who are majorly Indian-Canadians.
THE BETTER OPTION IS GO ONLINE IN YOUR NEXT APPLICATION

You are still repeating the same thing, this time around emphatically. Let me ask you,do you judge by only the number of applications here on nairaland?CIC reserves the right to process your application anywhere.
At the bolded, and how many percentage of total online applications do you see? It's good to give a guide but not emphatical statement that we aren't privy of

Yes! CIC for sure has everything to transfer an application to any part of the world for it to be processed. I am not disputing this certitude. But, this is off from what we are saying, you're saying that we should refrain from our assumptions that some applications are treated at Abu Dhabi and Ankara and I am telling you what I have seen with several applications in here and outside this thread. Let me use a case of an applicant here who submitted her application recently without paying for her biometrics fee. The applicant emailed the Lagos immigration office and they redirected the applicant to send a CSE to London visa office simply because that's where most online applications are being processed. The applicant did as instructed and lo and behold, the response came in and the portal was lately opened for the applicant to complete her biometrics payment. Where am I driving at? If truly your claims that some online applications are processed outside the stated visa offices why is it that the response didn't come from them and why did the Lagos visa office redirect the applicant to London? that's if the Abu Dhabi and Ankara visa offices were in charge of online applications.

Oh! My bad! The last time I spoke with an immigration attorney in Canada at the beginning of this year. I requested for a range of fees regarding some visa packages ranging from express entry, study permit etc... I didn't capture and recollect some of what we discussed. So, inorder to ascertain your claims in your previous post about the judicial review process fee, I had to call back to confirm.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by geotherm: 1:25pm On Aug 09, 2018
I helped my friend applied June 22 (online). He did biometric on 25th. But since medical request was not forthcoming I encouraged him to do an upfront medical. He did it on Monday, we uploaded the medical sheet same day. Today I saw an update "Review of medical results We are reviewing the results of your medical exam". Hopefully it ends in praise. He called the children's practice today they told him to call back tomorrow evening to confirm if the results had been uploaded from their end. I wrote a short note on reason why he decided to do medical.

But you explicitly quoted some figures initially as what judicial review costs, what are those for?

Yes! The immigration attorney confirmed it was for full study permit application package which goes for $CAD1,500 and not judicial review process fee.

Send them a mail now! and use the webform. Without Biometrics, i doubt if they would even touch your application. It's way too long.

All the best.

Goodday everyone, pls did anyone had an idea of what might be wrong with my application, cos I submitted 8th of June and since I haven't had anything from them. Biometrics hasn't been done.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by harde116: 1:54pm On Aug 09, 2018
Stay hopeful bro, nobody knows this for a fact. But your application is moving, and i can argue that you will here a response soon. They know it's August, it's just a few weeks to when most schools will resume. I guess that's the reason for a lot of eligibility review update.

All the best.

Hello, i guess you can contest it, i believe that's why that option is available in the first place. But if i were in your shoes, i'd ask if i have explored all my options. I guess it was your first application. This whole contest thing is not as easy as it might sound o, to win it takes a long time which may even get you weary, and if you lose, forget the dream or the desire. It's too much of a risk and i don't know if you are willing to stay for several ontop a case you could have taken another route to settle.

I advise you put up another application, make it better if possible. You may quote their reason for the first denial and express how it's been addressed. Then hope for the best... If it happens again(God forbid), then you may have a ground to contest it, provided everything says you MUST do your program in Canada.

All the best.

Good morning everybody and Gurus in the house.
Please I need your candid opinion.
I applied for TRV and was denied. But my concern now is that with the kind of application I submitted I don't think the VO went through my application. So am contemplating on contesting the decision.
The reason they gave for the refusal is that my home ties in Canada and Nigeria, my financial and personal assets even when I attached my landed property gifted to me by my dad and dad's landed properties and a letter to show that i am the one managing dads landed properties, paid for my tuition, paid for accommodation. Sponsor is my brother and he did a transfer to my account for my living expensive and my cosponsor as well.
Please I want to know if its possible for me to contest the TRV (student) because someone told me I can only contest if it were to be PRV. Pls how through is that. cry
And I think those guyz in Kenya are just being naturally wicked to Nigerians

Yes surprisingly it started between 3 to 5 days of his biometric and it started simultaneously with background check and still in that mode up till now. We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

Don't wait you have nothing to lose. After all you are helping them hasten their decision. That's my line of thought and I advised a friend who did it I believe strongly they will call for his passport next week. Just give reasons when you upload bia we webform. It will end in praise.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Nobody: 4:02pm On Aug 09, 2018
Good Afternoon Fellows.
I am thinking of paying my fees and sending the receipt to CIC through Webform. Is that okay?
I’m saying this because my initial application was delayed because of insufficient funds, and when I reapplied I couldn’t pay the fees my course registration portal opens which was 3rd July. Now my sponsor has money in his account and from the gcms the VO wasn’t so sure about the availability of funds for school fees payment. So I want to pay the fees now because the deadline for payment is 25th of August and I was thinking of waiting for the visa to be out before paying.
Any suggestions? Attorneys, Gurus and Elders please I need your recommendations. Thanks
