FG votes N800m for Arabic, Islamic Studies board - Minister

The Federal Government said it has appropriated over N600 million in the 2018 budget for execution of capital projects at the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS), just as it has committed N200 million to rehabilitation of the board's buildings ceded to it by the government.

Speaking during the commissioning of the national headquarters of the board in Kaduna yesterday, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu said efforts are in top gear to capture staff of the board into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), which will cost the government over two billion naira annually.

NBAIS is the regulatory and examination body for Arabic and Islamic Secondary Schools and centres in the country. The Board, established 1960 as Arabic and Islamic Studies Unit under the defunct Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education, became a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education in 2017.

A very good move! The location of the school is strategic, and what a beautiful sight the buildings are! Whoever has something else in mind should ask his representative legislators to propose it. If you know this thread will spoil your mood, don't open!

This is great, I can definitely see our GDP increasing and Nigeria breaking into the G7 with this move. You know Islamic studies rakes in BILLIONS of dollars worldwide, just ask the likes of USA, RUSSIA, CHINA, SOUTH AFRICA even Ethiopia and Ghana, they all resolved their economic meltdown by pumping money into Islamic and Arabic studies . Lets forget about job creation, agriculture, information technology, resolving the current recession and lets all join hands to support the government as they splash 800 million on Islam and Arab studies. This is the way forward. Right?

Stupid administrators wasting oil money on useless adventures.
What is the benefit of an Arabic school to a modern Nigeria?

Don't worry, you will reap the benefits in a decades time.

Can you just imagine the irony of this immense and irrepressible stupidity!
800 million Naira down the drain, spent on something this UNPRODUCTIVE.
800 MILLION Naira on Arabic, islamic Studies. So that is money spent to learn another man's language and his religion.I don't care about whether it is islam or Christianity, but this much money should not be spent on any religion, by anyone, let alone the FG.

Wonderful

Now someone will say this is not an islamization ploy... To spend 2bn annually for what will only benefit adherent of a particular religion but cant accept Peace Corps that will benefit the general public...

In a secular state things should not be done that will further strengthen division amongst the citizenry...

NBAIS Board, established 1960
as Arabic and Islamic Studies Unit under the defunct Northern Nigeria Ministry of Education, became a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education in 2017.

Seems the problem of Nigeria is lack of Knowledge in Arabic and Islamic studies hence the support for this over peace corps and other issues of concern
