Is it that the SE are not able to fill the slots available to them or do they want to collect the slots allocated to other states just like they have theirs?

What ohanaeze simply wants is that the same cut off mark should apply to all states of the federation, mediocrity should be discouraged in all forms.this quota system will still chunk out half baked judges and doctors that may handle ur issue someday and u know what that means.

That is not possible because the cutoff marks are a reflection of the individual marks scored in each state, for which kids are in competition with fellow kids from their own state alone.

The admission slots have already been shared fairly among all the states even before the exams are written. So what you eventually see as cutoff mark is what each state requires to fulfill the already assigned slots.

If Ohaneze is not happy that the cutoff mark is high in Abia or Anambra, they should ensure that Igbo kids answer only the 10% of the questions in the exam. With the prevalence of marks such as 7,8,9,10, it is certain that the cutoff mark would also be low like in the North, and the Igbo kids would still get admitted with such low marks as they are competing within each Igbo state alone.

That way nobody feels cheated, as no one is even being cheated now.

I repeat, the very low cutoff in Yobe or Jigawa, has not prevented any Igbo boy or girl from gaining admission, because the cutoff is state specific, for already allocated state slots prior to exam.

The unity school has a purpose, but Ohaneze has chosen to turn it into a competition. The goal of the federal government is to bring diverse people in a country together as early as possible in their development. If you choose to partake in this project, you get subsidised education, which by federal objective, must be evenly spread to benefit all states.

Ohaneze is only being greedy and looking over the neighbour's fence, when they should face their own enclave and continue to aspire to be better.

I do not support Ohanaeze on the Uniity school issue because the schools were set up for a specific reason.
Nevertheless the education situation in the North is disgraceful let us not kid ourselves.

The Secretary General of OPEC and deputy UN Secretary or Deputy are political roles.Their Occupation is not evidence of anything. The fact that you even bring it up makes me embarrassed FOR YOU.

I do not not know that you have any global champions and if you do those that you mention cannot be placed in that category.

There is a serious QUOTA SYSTEM problem in Nigeria with the North let us not kid ourselves. My position is that the UNITY schools shool be excluded fro that discussion
But Otherwse

There is nothing to write home about. Take the oil industry where NNPC is doinated by Northerners ,if they are so good why don't we see them dominate in Shell,Mobill etc. This is the sort of thing Ohanaeze are bitter about and I support them 100%.

Where I disagree with them is on the UNITY SCHOOL issue but otherwise educationally the North should hide its head in shame.

It is is a total embarrassent to Nigeria and has used quota systes to lower standards in all spheres of our life.

The general educational standard in Nigeria is disgraceful, not just the north. This is a fact that cannot be denied. The country should hide its head in shame for lagging behind in infrastructure and quality education. I've been opportune to experience the difference and it's like night and day.

That you admit that you are unaware of any northern global champions including the wealthiest black man on earth conquering Africa through sheer industry and entrepreneurial excellence, indicates the borders of your knowledge.

That you consider the positions of UN & OPEC Sec Generals not globally reputable is the height of insincerity.

Let me not call you 'ODE' because that word may be angry with me. Are you justifying an obvious national imbalance because the point was raised by a group of Igbo men? Must your allegiance corrupt your reasoning?Nigeria has over decades elevated mediocrity to the point of self destruct. You call it slots; yes they are slots, narrow openings for a large number of qualified candidates. Keep standing reason on its head.
Throwback:

The other day, I proved how meritocracy was sacrificed to ensure that only an Igbo will become the first African Principal of UI. And the Igbo man in question was told point blank by the Igbo School Council Chairman, that if he reject the appointment, they will rather give the position to a foreigner. This was despite having a more qualified and senior Yoruba professor as the most senior African on the very Academic Board that the Principal ought to have been appointed from. My case on that matter is closed.

Then Igbos who got their egos bruised saw an opportunity to gloat over the appointment of a fellow Igbo as ICC president, and they ensured to mention me to come see. I ended their joy by letting them know that a Yoruba man called Taslim Olawale Elias, was already the first African President of the superior ICJ/World Court, as far back as 1982. This hurt the clansmen so much that they permanently relocated to the internet cloud looking for any contrary information to save face, trying to disprove my factual assertion with lies that I punctured without mercy to them.

You are a very greedy fellow for wanting to take slots that have been assigned to the North. For God's sake, you have your own dedicated slots in the unity schools just as every other state does. The academic advancement of your state only ensures that the cut off mark will be high between the many brilliant kids jostling for the slots already assigned to the state.

Just as the academic decadence in Zamfara ensures that very low marks scored by the kids there, result to very low cut off marks to fulfill admission slots already assigned to Zamfara.

I repeat, attending a federal subsidised unity agenda school is not by force.

You either get out or you get with the programme.

This is where I now ask if you are a greedy emotional Igbo who feels marginalized that he has not been allowed to take what belongs to others?

It is an unreasonable demand because the schools were not set up for excellence but to bring together Nigerians from diverse backgrounds. If on the basis of Merit that cannot be achieved then the schools should close because it is not the Federal government's role to provide secondary education.

The same argument would apply if the African Union or United Nations decide to establish a secondary school for UNITY.

it would have to be a quota system entity otherwise some countries would not appear and others would be overrrepresented.

The issue of merit and mediocrity is totally irrelevant.
This is less that 0.01 % of the secondary school provision in the country. There are are many alternatives.

Indeed this analysis is very apt.

Imagine the AU establishing such subsidised schools in a couple of countries in Africa, and allocating slots of 25 admissions fairly to each African country every year. They all write the same exams and Nigeria scores very high, as well as Ghana and South Africa.

Then Nigeria begins to lament every year as to why Nigeria's cut off mark is 90 while that of Sudan or Rwanda is 35.

Whose fault is it that your own cutoff mark is high to fulfill your own already allocated slots and what is your greed towards the slots already dedicated to Sudan?

If Nigeria is not satisfied to fulfill its own slot in the programme designed to bring African kids together, then let Nigeria get out of the programme, as there are many other schools within Nigeria and Africa that Nigerian kids can enrol and pay fees that are not subsidised, and where admission is strictly by merit.

Still it may be worth looking at the admission procedure. Maybe they should not write the same exam as the admission process seems to be creating disunity. Rather each state should have its own admission procedure supervised by the FG and at the end of the process they present their candidates . Though it may be time to scrap the the scheme completely

You have come back to be disgraced, and I will disgrace you today.

The first African Judge at ICJ/World Court was Isaac Forster of Senegal. Even your fellow clansmen revealed that information themselves while trying to disprove me.

Secondly, the thread was about an Igbo being president of the ICC and not just a judge. So I countered with a Yoruba who was also President of a superior ICJ/World Court, and he was the first African to hold such an esteemed judicial position.

At no time did I ever say Taslim Olawale Elias was the first African or Nigerian Judge at ICJ. No he was not.

What is my business discussing judges when your clansmen were gloating about their own President. Did anyone gloat when the same Chile Osuji was just a judge at ICC as I suppose he was before he became president?
So why would I want to boast about Elias being a judge at ICJ when I could boast as I did about him being the first African President of such a superior World Court.

It was too sorrowful to accept as the clansmen's joy turned into agony.

Dude, you cannot allow everybody to gain admission at will in a school that the purpose for its creation is to bring diverse Nigerians together.

Don't confuse yourself with what the Unity federal schools are. They are a government project to foster national unity in the aftermath of the civil war.

So the slots are already allocated for fair/equal representation both for unity and to enjoy federal subsidy equally, but the Igbos don't want that as they are demanding that the slot of others should be given to them after already fulfilling their own slots.

Is it that the Igbos don't have money for regular secondary schools that do not enjoy federal subsidy? Or are there no state schools and private schools to attend all over the country?

What is the obsession with craving for what belongs to others when you already have yours secured?

What did he achieve as Governor of CBN.
By the way what is a banker because I a struggling with the idea of a globally renowned banker. Ifthere is such a thing then Sanusi is the only one.

Yes i is a cultural thing.

The reason the North is backward educationally is CULTURAL.

Your analysis is very lame considering the fact that education is all about stimulating intellectual development for the advancement of mankind.
Any educational system set that relegates intellectual merit behind quota balancing has failed ab nitio on it's basic responsility.

So you admit being fraudulent with the original list? Why did you initially leave the two out?

You're clearly an expert in fooling yourself. Mind you I have no apologies and no time for the self inflicted political and military irrelevance of your ilk if that's what you're crying about.

It's better to be "poor in reasoning" than be plagued by a low IQ victim mentality for life.

You are utterly shameless...Have you seen where your military and politccal relevance has placed the utterly hopeless country? A point below the worn torn Liberia..with your 2.2 million barrels of oil per day?

Thank God the UN will never under any circumstances set up such a caricature of an institution in the first place.

Don't you think quota system is harming everyone taking into cognisance that some of these quota system products may eventually become leaders and it even makes the Northeners complacent. I think it is high time this system is revisited. If it were not for the killing spirit in the Hausa/Fulani,I really pity them too but they have really affected Nigeria negatively, if I must say.

The only quota system I support is with the federal unity school, for the purpose for which it was established. They are too insignificant to prevent any Nigerian from having a secondary education if one does gain admission to the school.

For choosing to apply to this government project, you get subsidised education, but also help to pull other students up as your personal contribution, while the academically poor students get the benefit of superior academic competition they hitherto were not used to.

As someone rightly opined, it is the same WAEC that we all write and you must eventually make your 5 credits to move on with your academic life as your brain can empower you. I do not support quota system as a technique in recruiting to government offices or positions, as we must have the best person that fits the job to be done.

Those who do not support the Federal Unity School project and its quota system to ensure fairness, can always move on to standards they feel entitled to and can afford.

Military irrelevance of the entire South is "self inflicted"
Do you not think that at some point we must agree it is not working and go our separate ways?

I am not the other party .
Sanusi was the governor of the CBN there is nothing renowned about him.

What did he achieve as Governor of CBN.
By the way what is a banker because I a struggling with the idea of a globally renowned banker. Ifthere is such a thing then Sanusi is the only one.
18 by our law is an adult I mentioned 13. I remember Sanusi interviewing on the marriage and the Young girl was suposedly still in education. Is that the case for those kids with VVF who marry at 13?
Yes i is a cultural thing.

The reason the North is backward educationally is CULTURAL.
Marriageble AGE has EVERYTHING to do with educational advancement. You don't get it?

If a girl is busy making babies at 13 she will not become a lawyer at 22.
The female educational backwardness in the North is among the worst in the world
Duh
The reason Nigeria is backward is cultural too

The effect is much amplified in the North

I am not one of those who believe that Northerners are inferior but that the problem is CULTURAL.
Much of it has to do with how you educate your girls.

An ignorant girl will be an ignorant mother

Anyway those issues are tangential to the Unity school issues which I do not side with Ohanaeze on .Nevertheless a cut off of 5 and 7 is worrying for the affected states. What is going on?

I would have extensively lectured you on the difference between CAUSE and EFFECT if I had the time.

I never said early marriage doesn't have undesirable effects viz a viz your lawyer/ ignorant mother analogy, I only asserted that the cause was cultural and religious. Go back and read again slowly.

Regarding Sanusi and global reputation as a banker par excellence, Google Sanusi + world banker of the year to enlighten yourself.

Yes that is the purpose of education, but the unity school as well as my AU illustration, have a purpose to foster unity at a tender age. And the component states/nations must have representation for it to achieve that goal of its foundation.

While the very brilliant within the programme, stimulate the academic development of the very dull who are now exposed to a better level of academic competition.

The Unity School is a specific project. They are not the only secondary schools in Nigeria. Same goes for my African Union illustration. Nigeria can foolishly chose to focus on what poor scores are scored in Sudan, rather than rejoice in its own superior academic standard and just play their own part in the project. Nigeria should not be craving to have more than it has been allocated because she has higher cutoff marks, just like the others have their own allocations.

Enjoy what you can out of a Federal Unity School project that is not mandatory, as the alternative exist and is even more prevalent.

I was referring to the south east and not the entire south, hence my reference to his ilk.

Only an insincere hack would say the ENTIRE south is militarily irrelevant, and that point is buttressed by the correction I made to his fraudulent list.
