Leo10000:
to be honest guys,if you are going for a competitive department without KNOWING anyone there, then only miracle can guarantee you admission, U.I is tough,m.sc is not a do or die affair, try other schools too
my honest advice though ,thank you
What do you mean by "without KNOWING anyone there?" Stop misleading applicants and tarnishing the University's image! If you or any of your loved ones had applied to a supposedly "competitive" Department and was not offered admission based on POOR performance in the Test(s) and/or poor first degree result should not make you to fill the heads of naive applicants with lies and fears!

You do NOT need to "know" anyone here to gain admission. I did not and still don't know anyone here, yet I was amongst the 13 candidates out of hundreds to be offered admission into Criminology. I know MANY other M.Sc students that got admitted without knowing anyone. If you fail, you fail out; if you pass the EPT and other requirements you get admitted. That is UI for you, they work on MERIT to a great extent!

No mind the guy ( leo10000),he thinks UI is like is alma-mata. Ace your EPT and dept test (if applicable), your admission is guaranteed. Some even say,UI does not admit students from private institution,I laugh. Pls,correct every bit of your negative thought, the admission is very free and fair even in competitive dept.
Best of luck to you all.

I am from the South-South geopolitical zone and also had my first degree from a university (UniPort) in the same zone. I did NOT know nor meet anyone in the Unibadan to help me do "runz" or whatever in order to secure admission. In fact, it was my first time of coming to Ibadan; where to pass the night was almost a problem. However, I came here last year's October and sat for the EPT; scored "51%" and went home to think about life.

I thought I would not be offered admission considering how MANY applicants were claiming on and off Nairaland that they scored "60%, 70%," and even 80% in spite of the DIFFICULT questions in the Test. I later found out that most of them lied as they didn't score what they claimed to score, hence many were still not admitted. A lot of candidates LIE a lot especially on Nairaland, I do not know who they are trying to impress.

Anyway, it is normal for people to spread rumours when they or their friends are not offered admission. I had same experience at the UniPort: most of my friends and hometown people who applied or did Basic/Certificate Programmes in order to gain admission into 100 level were not succesful, thus they told me not to put UniPort unless I "knew" someone there. I ignored them to fill the University, sat for their PUTME on September 2009, scored 66% and was offered admission on the "Merit List" - I was number 4 on the list. I never met anyone to do "runz" for me.

So, the Unibadan is the same - they are VERY transparent and fair in their admission process to the best of my knowledge. Just pass the EPT with AT LEAST 50% (do not aim for 40% like they stipulated), and other requirements and one may likely gain admission. Actually the University is very COMPETITIVE, but that is why it is UI. FIRST and the Best...

Hello, house. Please, a friend of mine just registered and applied for Psychology this evening, only to go back to check her page and it seems the system automatically gave her "social and personality psychology", and it has part time not full time. She is so worried as she can't edit. Please what can be done is this case? All the numbers on the website are not going through.

This happened to quite a number of people.
If she hasn't submitted, she should be able to modify her details. When She wants to log in she should select "log in to modify data" rather than "log in to continue application". I hope you understand this.
But if she has submitted her application, she would need to make some payment, about #1,100, to reactivate her submission and make corrections.

Al the best!!!
