THE SIGNIFICANCE OF “THE GREAT UKWA/NGWA DECLARATION II AND ENDORSEMENT OF DR. VICTOR OKEZIE IKPEAZU” FOR A SECOND TERM IN OFFICE AS GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE.

The Great Ukwa/Ngwa Declaration II which was held at Okpu-ala-Ngwa believed to be the ancestral home of the entire Ngwaland was a Home coming for Dr.
Victor Okezie Ikpeazu who was elated at the mammoth crowd that graced the occasion. It had in attendance the most revered eminence, Imperial, Religious, Royal Leaders, and many accomplished sons and daughters of Ukwa/Ngwaland.
This shows the great importance attached to this auspicious summit and its implications in our quest for equity, inclusiveness, fairness and justice as a stabilizing political character that would perpetually enthrone harmony in Abia State.
The summit also provided great opportunity for the sons and daughters of ukwa/Ngwa as people bonded by history, blood, common destiny, vision and sentiments to speak with one voice and one heart and make a declaration in support of their son, a serving Governor by the grace of God, and circumstances of birth of Ngwa stock.
It is therefore important to note that in the last two years or more, Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu as the Executive Governor of Abia State, has consistently maintained a steady hand in governance with great commitment and panache to the admiration of all and sundry.
May it suffice to say even with the scarce resources and challenges across the country, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has shown the gravitas, presence of mind and understanding of issues as a great ambassador of Ukwa/Ngwa nation.
He has changed the narratives of performance efficiency in Abia State. We, the Ukwa/Ngwa people and indeed all Abians have seen a paradigm shift in our political and economic routes. The outstanding performance of the Governor has given the Ukwa/Ngwa people the impetus to make a bold statement about the character and ability of an Ukwa/Ngwa man in providing quality and exemplary leadership in the state.
The challenge for us in this vein is therefore to defend the mandate Godnnnnnn has given us through our son, stand and stand firm in defense of the Government House which our son occupies, demonstrate love and strength and above all ensure that Ukwa/Ngwa through Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, enjoys two terms as the predecessors from other parts of Abia State did.
We cannot afford to deny him the needed home base support and solidarity that are essential in confidence building in a highly political environment as our especially against the backdrop of the historical significance of his emergence as the Governor of Abia State.
In line with the collective will and aspiration of the Ukwa/Ngwa people, Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu was unanimously endorsed as our sole candidate for gubernatorial race in Abia State come 2019.
More than 1,000,000 signatures and more were collected giving credence to this endorsement by the Ukwa/Ngwa people. This landmark endorsement of Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu and declaration by Ukwa/Ngw people has finally put to rest every dissenting voice and insinuation of disunity among the Ukwa/Ngwa people.
It is now crystal clear by the auspicious declaration and endorsement that the few disgruntled and politically myopic pundits who claim to be part of us should henceforth bow their heads in shame. We cannot again be cowed into political irrelevance in the political equation of Abia State. We are as constant as the “Northern Star” in our collective will and commitment to defend the mandate of Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu our beloved and amiable son, an “Original Damirida” and son of Ngwaland.
Furthermore, the summit offered the right opportunity for us to re-awaken our consciousness to the developments in our political environment, the need to engage the future as a collective, reinforce the relevance of the Ukwa/Ngwa people in the politics of Abia State and challenge our sense of oneness and solidarity.
The overwhelming support the Governor enjoys all over the state is because of his laudable achievements in line with his five pillars of development initiative; Trade and commerce, MSMEs (Micro Small Medium Enterprises), Education, Agriculture and Oil and Gas as well as his massive infrastructural development all over the state. For example, about 42 roads have been completed within a record time and 72 other road projects are ongoing.
The glory and fortunes of Aba as the economic hub of the south East/South South of Nigeria has been restored by his massive road construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation in Aba as well as promotion of Made-in-Aba products and provision of adequate security in the state. The people of Aba have heaved a sigh of relief and expressed great joy for the commencement of construction work at Port Harcourt Road which hosts the machine tools fabricators, auto mechanics, spare parts Dealers and Orie Ohabiam Electronics market with a dedicated Bus rapid transit (BRT) lane so that people can easily board buses from Ala Oji end of the road to Aba park, end to end drainage as well as streetlight to extend business hours to 9.00pm when completed.
The Dualization and Reconstruction of Aba-Owerri Road with drainage and streetlight as well as the flyover at Osisioma along Port Harcourt-Aba-Enugu Express Road is another feather added to the Governor’s cap in his bid for a second term. Most importantly, the Governor with his capable team in the Ministry of Works under the supervision of the Hon. Commissioner, Rt. Hon. Enyiuche Ubani have found the solution to the perennial flooding at Ohanku, Osusu, Omuma,Ariaria and Port Harcourt Roads through reclamation of the Ifeobara Pond, and channeling of storm water-to Aba River.
It is indeed a feat to thank God for giving us a Governor like Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. Congratulations our Amiable Governor for a job well done. Bravo! You have blazed a trail for others to follow. We are indeed proud of your laudable achievements, political sagacity, courage and exuberant personality. That is why the Ukwa/Ngwa people have spoken and endorsed you for a second term.
This declaration must be seen for what it represent, a determination of a people to have their fair due. “After all, what is good for the goose should be good for the gander”. Let us now cement and concretize this our Declaration by getting our PVC (Permanent Voters Card) ready and mobilize others to do some ready for 2019.
