2011: Ojukwu canvasses support for IBB National News May 2, 2010 By Tony Edike, Enugu THE Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was yesterday, reported to be in support for the presidential ambition of former military leader, General Ibrahim Babangida, in 2011, saying he would support him as far as it was the desire and aspiration of the people of the country. Ojukwu, who declared that Babangida deserves a second chance to rule the nation, said he was convinced that he possessed the required qualities that could take the country to further heights as, according to him, IBB remains a strong voice in Nigerian politics. The ex-Biafran leader, who received a delegation of Campaign Network for IBB led by Chief Peter Dada Osadebay in his residence in Enugu, said the former military president remains his bosom friend. Among the dignitaries that visited Ojukwu were Chief Emeka Ani [South East coordinator of the campaign}, Chief Anike Agbo, Alhaji Nurudeen Gasali Babatunde, Chief Anike Nwoga, Chief Anike Nwaba, among others. Osabebay, told reporters after a closed door meeting with the former Biafran warlord that Ojukwu’s comments on Babangida were very encouraging, stressing that the Ikemba had promised to work with the former military leader. He said that Ojukwu, who had cut short his visit to his village in Nnewi to receive the group, was full of excitement and commended the spirit behind the campaigns. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/05/02/2011-ojukwu-canvasses-support-for-ibb/ |

Ive said it time without number, Ojukwu is an idiot, coward and cheap opportunist. Ojukwu would sell his mother if his guarantee a profit. During Abacha regime, he was going round the world campaigning for the regime. What a shame, at his age and status, the self appointed leader of Igbo people campaigning for IBB. |

Ojukwu couldn't have been that stupid to think that ibb is a viable candidate.Anyway, ojukwu belongs to the failed generation of nigerians,it won't be out of order if he is li-cking ibb tuwo smelling as-s |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by sjeezy8: 11:55am On May 02, 2010 |
Theres nothing new he supported Shagari when shagari said there will be an igbo president, he supported Abacha when abacha said they'll be an igbo president. Now hes supporting IBB possibly IBB said there'll be an igbo president. But the thing is just because one northerner says something doesnt mean all northerners will agree- he should have learned that by now. Why does he keep being tricked? Like why? lol |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by metalgong5(m): 11:56am On May 02, 2010 |
IBB remains the most qualified and experienced presidential candidate for 2011 elections. . . . . Ojukwu is definitely right!! The man IBB is already campaigning seriously while Yoruba cowards are just showing their prowness in internet noise making. |

This man is senile.Maybe his mentor (Bianca) is not beside him when he made the senseless statement. He is notorious for making such unguided utterances. He first Backed Abacha, threw his support behind Disgraced Maurice Iwu and now this. He is just a typical igboman.Political love-peddlers. They'll do anything if the money is right. IBB can pick Ojukwu has his running-mate,it'll make a good failure combination. |

metal-gong: Guy you be real fool When the time comes for an igboman to be president the northerner wont give the presidency to igboman instead they will retain it and canvass for support among other southerners. SW or SS. as history shows- The problem is that igbo people keep believing these lies that some northerners always yarn and when the time comes around the northerner will renege and dump igbo people for a ss or sw vp or 2nd in command. Wat a comment to make @ this crucial time in 9ja politics, but if History any thing to go by with then this is no NEWS,The Ikemba belongs to the class of Nigerians that ve failed us over the years, but we 'll resist any move or plans for our future to mortgaged again by these men. IBB knows wat late Simbiat Abiola once told her late husband Moshood Abiola to stay clear of partisian politics but it landed on deaf ears & we all know the rest of the story.IBB, IBB, IBB how many times did i call you, hear the words of the wise-Stay clear of presidential election in Nigeria @ least this life time! |

But why is Ojukwu-such an eloquent, logical and intelligent man always on the wrong side of history without any exception. Is it Nigeria or the man that is troubled? |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by olafolarin(m): 12:26pm On May 02, 2010 |
Nothing stops an Igboman from being President but can the whole Igbo nation produce just one credible candidate and back him/her 100%?I don't think so.UNITY is Ndigbos biggest problem. It'll go well till the Northerners use money to instigate igbos against each other. Many candidates will spring up and the entire voting block will be divided while the entire North will back a candidate while SW will also back a candidate. The disparity needs to be corrected before an igboman will become Nigeria's President. |

sjeezy8: Learn your history well. Was Aikhomu not a replacement for Ebitu Ukiwe who refuses to follow his fellow military men to support IBB in cleaning Nigeria's account?. If Ebitu Ukiwe played ball with IBB[or as you people define it: understands politics], he would've been one of the richest military goons around today. Rather, he is retired in his country home relying on govt pension to survive. How many Nigerians are like that today? |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by AloyEmeka5: 12:31pm On May 02, 2010 |
olafolarin: Has the Yoruba nation done the same thing before?. Awolowo being a demi god in Yorubaland could not achieve that either. The Yoruba produced a credible candidate who is one of the most honest men in Nigeria in the name of Olu Falae yet the Obasanjo they despise so much trumped him. Tell me one credible candidate the Yoruba collectively produced and supported 100% who succeeded in the history of Nigerias presidency? And don't you know there is something wrong whenn a whole etrhnic group speaks with one voice?. There is no way a whole ethnic group will agree unless all of them are evil. Quote me. |

Pennywise: The man is senile and his mind is failing him. By the way, Ojukwu said he will support IBB as long as he is the one who the people wants so, the title of this article is erroneous. THE Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was yesterday, reported to be in support for the presidential ambition of former military leader, General Ibrahim Babangida, in 2011, saying he would support him as far as it was the desire and aspiration of the people of the country. |

olafolarin: You, your father and all your past and present generations are imbe-ciles. You Yoruba man thinks that yoruba cowards will be dictating the tune of Nigerian politics. In your world and that of your fellow ofemanus, IBB is not qualified just because he annulled the election of your fellow yoruba imbe-cile and rogue who could have been the worst president Nigeria has ever had .Where were you empty barrels when OBJ was wrecking Nigeria for the past eight years? . . . . . Bunch of parasites. Like it or not, IBB will definitely win the 2011 presidential elections because he remains the best among all candidates that have showed interest . |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by olafolarin(m): 12:41pm On May 02, 2010 |
You should read history also well before making such postulations. Ebitu Ukiwe was a part and parcel of IBB coup and that makes him a part of corruption. He later lost out in the power struggle that followed and has since been licking his thumb in silence. Ebitu Ukiwe can't claim to be a saint when he connived and planned with IBB(devil) to overthrow a popular government. In 1999,the the entire Yoruba nation supported Olu Falae but the easterners and Northerners felt comfortable with OBj and because of that we are where we are right now. |

Another demonstration of kids being kids that is what is going on here. Why can't you guys recognise diplomatic speak when you see one. we live in a democracy for God's sake. See the bit in bold above? He did not promise to go and campaign for IBB nor did he say he will give him unconditional support. His support for IBB is hinged on the will and aspiration of Nigerians. What can be wrong with a statement like that? I do not support IBB but if it is the will and aspiration of the Nigerian people to support him on election day and he gets voted for. On May 29th I will declare my support for whoever gets elected so that the country can move forward and thats called democracy. This is what Ojukwu is simply saying. So you guys need to grow up and learn to understand when an old man speaks instead of running to your computer to abuse people anyhow. Ojukwu has one vote on election day and so does everyone else. The Nigerian constitution has not bared IBB from running either and you people want Ojukwu to say that IBB should not run? or that IBB will not be President even if Nigerians vote for him because Ojukwu said so? All you kids should bury your prejudices and grow up. |

metal-gong: Why are you so angry?pls check your facts right before writing rubbish.Your fathers and entire kindred voted OBJ as President.Get your facts and head straight. mmmm,If I may ask,who voted OBJ as President in 1999? I took part in the election and final result showed that OBJ got major votes from the entire North(who felt comfortable with the fool) and the south east. |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by presido1: 12:55pm On May 02, 2010 |
And they say Nigeria has a better future when the yound generation can't reason. Cuz Ojukwu's name was mentioned everybody start shouting without reading meaning into his words. I weep for Nigeria future as today might be better with the kind of young Nigerians the society is breeding. All noise and no sense. |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by AloyEmeka5: 12:59pm On May 02, 2010 |
olafolarin: Which power did Ebitu Ukiwe lose?. The old man resigned when IBB was introducing something else into their plan. Vice presidents/deputy mil leaders are more or less powerless in Nigeria how much less a Naval officer. So, which power tussle did he lose . IBB was more afraid of younger military officers than Ebitu Ukiwe because 1) he is already in the govt and 2) he came from the navy. Which navy or air force officer have you heard in the history of Nigeria leading a coup?. Yes, the Yoruba supported Olu Falae just like the Igbo supported Alex Ekwueme yet there are some members from either tribe who will not follow the crowd to support them due to personal or moral issues. What is wrong about it?. If 100% support to a candidate is the only way to produce a president, why didn't Olu Falae succeed?. And stop blaming Obasanjo on the igbo because the PDP rigged him in and not igbos. You people should stop looking for any cheap opportunity to blame igbos. The igbos like time I checked unanimously voted for Olu Falae yet their figures were reading Obasanjo. Why should the vote Obasanjo when Ekwueme who is one of the proprietors of PDP before Obasanjo was dumped by the party in favor of Obj because he is not in the military clique? I repeat my question: Tell me one Nigerian president who the Yoruba collectively supported and produced since they work in unity when it comes to politics? |

Leave matter for gutter, what will?We all know that the people's will does not exist in nigerian politics. The nigerian masses are down and out with weary caused by the same politicians,it is about who manages to give them more bags of salt, imported rice and few naira that they vote. |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by akota(m): 1:26pm On May 02, 2010 |
@ redsun We no get shaking, that era of politicking has come & gone,no body be fool again. The present 9ja masses are educated on political matters than any nation of the world, Money bags wont earn 1vote in their constituency if the are not popular and with right programmes/manefetos to show.I can assure that now I'm glad @ the time this guys are coming is the right time when they will humiliated & disgraced.Lets watch and see!! |

Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by KnowAll(m): 1:33pm On May 02, 2010 |
IBB can pick Ojukwu has his running-mate,it'll make a good failure combination God knows IBB would not last more than 6 months as the President if he allows Ojukwu to be his VP, what Ojukwu cannot acheive on the battle field, would be at almost arms lenght, the resistance for Ojukwu to play it cool, would be overhealmed by his own personal greed and treachery to grasp power at all cost. Surely the subversive element in his genetic make-up would go on over-drive, throwing any decorum of caution overboard in his haste to fulfil his long stale ambition of being the President of Nigeria. Obviously the world would witness another botched attempt by bungling Ojukwu to grasp power from a man who is merely doing Ojukwu a favour, this time the Hausa-Fulani OR is it the Gwaris would make sure he meets his waterloo. |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by AloyEmeka5: 1:33pm On May 02, 2010 |
Wily+Wily: Sorry to disappoint you, they don't speak with one voice and I don't know why people actually want them or any other ethnic group to do so because speaking with one voice is synonymous to fraternities and usually, there is a common bond beyond their name. If an ethnic group speaks with one voice, that means they are not telling each other the truth because someone is bound to be a Judas. |

The day IBB will win an election in niigeria will mean the end of nigeria for any true nigerian.Whoever supports ibb, knowing who he is,is an enemy of progress and the state of nigeria |
Re: Ojukwu Canvasses Support For Ibb by metalgong5(m): 2:13pm On May 02, 2010 |
redsun:Thats the typical Yoruba mentality . . . . Always thinking about themselves. ooh, So Nigeria will split because a man detested by yoruba people won a democratic election whilst the same Yoruba men fought against the splitting of Nigeria when a particular race was being massacred and maimed. Anyway, you guys should be getting ready to declare oduduwa republic because IBB will definitely win the 2011 presidential election. |
