There's no question that he sounds more Nigerian than Modenine. . .

I don't think Nigeria's music industry is mature enough to have it's distinct sound right now, but if hiphop is about keeping it real . . . then guys like 2shot, Sound Sultan, Lord of Ajasa are as real as it gets.
Even their themes are as Nigerian as the word goes . . .

The truth is that Modenine is the benchmark to measure dopeness & wackness in Nigerian (possibly African) Rap music because of his superb lyricsism. Do you think M.I's lyrics would have been hyped as this if Modenine hasn't unconciously set the standard. Lord of Ajasa will be happy to have his name mentioned close Modenine . Everybody want to be better than the best. Modenine this, Modenine that shows that he is a reputable force in the Nigerian rap scene.

Ajasa is more original in my opinion. Not taking anything away from mode 9, I think mode 9 is very very good. Ajasa just has this street vibe, and hes hilarious,

Semid, Terry's verse had good lyrics and all that. But his flow was not it. He didn't ride the beat well. Same thing with Gino. It was only Eva and Grin who treated the beat well

we have a big misconception of what being original is. spitting in your mother tongue does not directly translate to being original. if so, everybody rapping in Africa is not original because hip hop itself is a borrowed culture.
Originality means not being someone else, sounding yourself. e.g, when you listen to Papoose, for instance, you know its Papoose from the way he sounds, from the subject matter, his rhyme pattern, etc. On the other hand, when you listen to Guerilla Black, the first thing that comes to your mind is Biggie smallz, hence, he is not original. This does not capture everything originality is cos originality is ambiguos.
Originality goes beyond spitting in your mother tongue. Big Pun rapped mostly in English but was still original.
