it works well with mtn zte modems but not hauwei( i've tried it on more than 2 hauwei modems but keeps giving d same error message) n yes the sim is activated n i use the right apn. . . . .

ok, i also used it on zte. sorry, i didnt mentioned i never tested on huawei modem.
cant say exactly were d prob really is

install the modem software, possibly by copying out the installer from the cdfs drive on the modem, then install it, then plug in the modem, if it says device driver failed
then You should browse to Device Manager and single click a device that has a yellow question mark in front of it. Now right click the specific device and choose update driver from the context menu. Click the "No, not this time" option on the Hardware Update Wizard and click the next button. Then choose the "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" option and click the next button. Then choose the "Search for the best driver in these locations" option and click the "Include this location in the search" box and browse to the folder with the drivers in it and click the next button. Windows should find the driver in the folder you placed in your program files folder or in the drive and install it.

try this too first! my huawei modem works on a win7 box anyways!

i use an etisalat modem and i have got d unlock code, however the modem doesnt recognise sims from other networks. it always dispalys a unrecognised sim message, giving no options for the input of an unlock code. SOMEONE PLS HELP

Hello Nlanders , Please how can I get the imei number for starcomms huawei modem ets2558? I didn't see it on the casing of the modem and it also was not displayed in the computer when I entered the Control Panel-Phones&Modems-Diagnostics-Querry modem.
I also tried dialling *#06# and nothing was displayed.
Is there any other number I can dial to get the imei number or is there any other alternative method?
