Agriculture: Dizengoff set to partner with Abia

Dizengoff Nigeria has promised to partner with Abia state government in her Agricultural Revolution program.

This followed an Understanding reached in Lagos at an exclusive meeting between the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Rt Hon Uzo Azubuike, and the CEO/Country Manager of Dizengoff Nigeria, Mr Antti Ritvonen.

Welcoming the Commissioner, Mr Antti expressed admiration for the Agricultural and infrastructural development programs of the Ikpeazu administration in Abia State, which he described as “a new dawn, not only in Abia state but Nigeria at large”.

He assured that with Dizengoff Abia state will exceed her agricultural goal, particularly in modern agriculture.

The meeting agreed on the following areas of collaboration:

-provision of agricultural equipment services
-Greenhouse technology with irrigation
-improved seedlings
-Training of Abia farmers in modern farming methods
-provision of Agrochemicals and equipment for weed and pest control.

The CEO commended Governor Ikpeazu for the Poultry Cluster concept which will not only guarantee food security but also create mass employment for the Youths, promising to leverage on his contacts to support the initiative through processing.

The meeting agreed that the training of Abia farmers will commence on 4th May 2018, in Umuahia.

In his remarks, Rt Hon Uzo Azubuike thanked the Management of Dizengoff for their support and encouragement to Abia state, assuring them of the commitment of Abia State Government to partner with Dizengoff in delivering higher agricultural output In the state.

“Governor Ikpeazu made agriculture a development pillar of his administration and he is in a hurry to see that our people become net exporters of agric products, including processed brands, that will help in conserving Forex for the nation. We see a great opportunity In partnering with you because of your rich experience in agricultural production and processing”, he said.

The Commissioner assured the organisation that the state will establish Greenhouse farms before the end of Governor Ikpeazu's first term in office, describing the Governor as a “Digital and Pacesetter Leader governing his people with passion”.

Mr Antti presented Souvenirs to the Commissioner.

It will be recalled that since the inception of the Ikpeazu administration, agriculture has been given a massive boost in Abia State with millions of tenera specie palm seedlings planted, large scale mushroom production, Poultry clusters established, improved yield of Abia Rice and support to agribusiness.
