Stop twisting fact this envious bitter demon. Stop mastur.bating over Anambra matter while your state is going down the drain. Anambra pays over 18k presently. If Anambra wasn't paying 18k as at 2015 why then is the NLC begging the gov to upgrade to 50k minimum wage?

Stop distorting facts. Anambra shall be the first state to implement the new federal government minimum wage. Stop being a bitter man.

Blue3k:
Read Obiano statement. He held off implement new wage waiting for new FG minimum wage. Why states like Anambra didn't comply with 18k minimum wage is because they couldn't afford it. The federal government lazy about enforcing laws.
Setting Minimum wage is constutionally constitutionally in exclusive list federal government. I don't know where your pulling your baseless claims about separation of powers.
Yes states can pay over minimum wage. It's called minimum wage for a reason. Obvious point. is obvious

Anambra to pay new minimum wage in July
By Dom Ekpunobi, Onitsha | 27 March 2018 | 3:10 am

Willie Obiano

Anambra State workers would from July this year begin to earn a new minimum wage.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, who announced this during his first post exco press briefing at the Government House, Awka, said that although the minimum wage would have taken off in April, the state had to wait for the Federal Government pronouncement on the issue, so it would not work against the laws of the nation.

He also announced that Anambra is set to launch a 50-year development plan for a sustainable development of the state.

The Commissioner said a committee to handle the take off and running of the development plan would be inaugurated within the next two weeks.

He said the state would witness faster growth and asked for the cooperation of all and sundry in order to enable Governor Willie Obiano realise his development goal in the state.

He said although the governor achieved a lot in his first tenure, he has plans to make Anambra the most competitive state in the country.

Adinuba said that the secretariat in Awka would soon wear a new look, while two bridges would be constructed at the Regina Ciely Junction in Awka and at Orumbanasa area of the state adding that the Orumbanasa bridge would be a military bridge.

The state government, he said, had also decided to dualise the Awka road in Onitsha and warned that street trading in Onitsha would no longer be tolerated.

He said the local council election was stalled by litigation pending in the court adding that as soon as they were discharged , the election would be conducted.

Mr Jerry Nnubia, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Anambra , says that the current minimum wage being earned by workers should be increased to N50,000 monthly from its present N18,000.

Nnubia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Awka, capital of Anambra, that the increment became imperative following the “harsh” economic realities in the country.

Nnubia said that the minimum wage was long overdue for an upward review.

“At the time we negotiated for a minimum wage of N18, 000, a dollar was exchanging for N140, but a dollar exchanges for between N220 and N240 now.

“The cost of living; accommodation, transportation and food items has also gone high, making it difficult for salary earners to take care of their basic needs,” he said.

NAN also reports that the Association of Senior Civil Servants last month also demanded a minimum wage of N46, 000 for workers.

Its Secretary-General, Mr. Bashir Lawal, in Lagos State, said that the existing N18, 000 minimum wage could not meet the socio-economic demands of workers.

According to Nnubia, the Federal Government’s fight against corruption will further help to improve the economy.

He urged the Federal Government to review its housing policy for workers, noting that civil servants had not benefitted from the existing housing scheme despite their monthly contributions to the scheme.

“The current contributions of workers to the national housing scheme should be made to work,” he said.

He commended Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra for his positive dispositions towards workers’ welfare, but noted that more still needed to be done in the state.

“Anambra workers are full of expectations that Obiano will put smiles on their faces by fulfilling his promises of increasing salaries,” the unionist said.

please reconcile the two statements of yours with you r arguments becos you are saying two different things that are separate.
The first quote shows that state can decide not to comply despite it being on exclusive list(Separation of power)
Second quote, state can pay over but not below minimum, so why didn't the so called FG force them to pay.

Yawn quote correctly it's not hard. Second you show you have reading disability and comprehension issues. You think because your state didn't comply with law it's separation of powers. Lol this how Anambra justify their inability to pay wages.

I already answered second question. The federal government lazy. They also knew the state was too broke.

Lol the education system is touted highly but it seems they couldn't help you. Oh well I'm sure your teachers did their best. Your just a slow learner it seems.

Lol you're trying to drown me I tears because your governor didn't pay we 18k minimum wage. Citing 2015 article when 2017 article exposed you. Great job keep up the work.

The governor had in his address told the workers “I won’t promise you what I cannot do”.

He reminded them that his administration had increased their salaries by 15 percent in 2015.

His address read in part, “I wish to restate my earlier promise that I will increase your salaries once I see a significant growth in my Internally Generated Revenue; once we are able to push it to N2.3bn per month. Now we have an average IGR of about N1.4 billion

Yawn if I bring up SW debt and sustainibilty nobody cries. They except truth. I bring up you mediocrity then you start rambling. Anyway are you going to dispute facts that came out of governors mouth or just whine like rest of guys did today.

It's only SE posters that start crying whats stats are released yearly from UN, NBS etc.

Anambra workers demand full implementation: In Anambra State, immediate past government of Peter Obi, instead of implementing the N18.000 minimum wage, just added N10,000 and just recently, the incumbent governor merely effected a15 percent increment to the workers’ salaries which still fell short of the N18.000 minimum wage.
