If not for the cross
We hold so close to our heart
the cross where Jesus died,
But so much more than the blood stained cross
is that he rose from the grave to live forever.

He didn't want heaven without us,
Our sins were great but his love was greater,
What else could bridge the gap
That sin wretched apartIf not for the cross.

His words, on the cross were few
So much he accomplished
Through his death upon the cross
And in his rising from the deadReconciled us back to God.
"It is finished".
