You aren't the sharpest tool in the shed.
How did religion creep into this?
It is basically the school misusing and abusing it's authority.
The school has a Christian background but, does that translate into Christianity being behind this?
Whatever happened to consulting your brain before taking actions?

Ur religious enthusiasm has blindsided your reasonable sense of judgement. Is igbinedion university not a private university? Yet these rules don't pertain to them bcoz they are a circular school. CU, Madonna, BIU etc are religious universities which uphold religious morals (not cultural). It's the school religious background that shapes their rules and regulations.
Same can be said of religious countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran etc. It's their religion that shapes their rules such as women covering their entire body and not driving (rebates of Sharia laws) . In Nigeria Islam is a religion but it doesn't enforce wearing of hijab on all her citizens because Nigeria is basically a circular state.
Whatever happened to using your brain before typing Well guess you are definitely the useless tool thrown away in the shed.

CU has rules that every one there knows they must follow, it's not new .. most CU alumni knows this and never complained but Nigerians won't face their own lives and fix it but poke nosing in what doesn't concern them..

for example in CU ur not allowed to keep beards, u can't dress any how, there is a standard there that must not be broken..

they are training them to become responsible and they must follow it that's why their parents pay millions to have them their ..

if not fayose children won't have gone their

What is this one saying. They're talking about health. Peoples health and you're talking about CU's morals. Ishi-orikwa-gi-mma? Can morals cure HIV? In this era of exposure, this is highly unacceptable and shows how low CU's standard is. Bia, be careful o!

Did you read what is being talked about? That the rule that you claimed is being enforced was not done with the wellbeing of students in mind. Do you do bad to correct another evil? By the way, where did you hear adults can be forced to become responsible? Part of the problem with the way CU does its things is that it doesn't help children grow and think in a realistic manner. Anyway, how e tey concern me self, i no go there and my child no dey there.

The school itself is not bad in terms of academics, principles and learning environment. However, there are certain people (in student council or lecturers) who by virtue of their position, have decided to take matters into their own hands and commit all sorts of atrocities in the bid to exercise their authority over the students. These are the culprits, not the school authorities. You know the saying "absolute power corrupts absolutely". These people need to be reprimanded and brought to book. Trust me, this is the absolute truth!!!....coming from someone who schooled there.

Religious intolerance is not only when christians wage a crusade against moslems or moslems wage a Jihad against christians, when a christian or a moslem wants to intimidate or coerce an atheist , a free thinker or a traditionalist into his or her own religion, simply becos they belong to the "minority" group in terms of there number in a particular environment, hence, they tend to remain quiet or go unnoticed, it is called religious intolerance. When a particular Christian sect begins to feel that his or her own denomination or doctrine is more superior to the other and moves around dealing with people with such mindset, it is religious intolerance, same goes with a particular Islamic sect that moves around relating to people with such mindset. An atheist or free thinker with such mentality is equally guilty. When you wake up in the early hours of the morning with a public address system to disturb your neighbourhood with shouts of praises and preaching when some people are having there quiet time , some are still managing to initiate sleep, and some are trying to catch up with there studies in view of their exams, and anybody that confronts you to soft pedal is branded a witch or wizard, that is religious intolerance. You are not different from that bar or club owner that is disturbing the neighbourhood with loud music, they are all noise pollution. When you enter a public transport in a journey of 3hrs and want to preach, pray and sing throughout the whole journey strictly according to your own pattern of prayer, ordering that nobody should answer call or do any other thing, and any body that does otherwise is labelled a witch that wants to cause accident, that is religious intolerance. When you mount large speakers in front of your church or mosque to disturb the serenity of the neighbourhood with noises of preaching , singing and speaking in strange languages, yet the church may not even have up to 20 persons , hence, no need for a public address system, and you think you are doing it for God, you are disturbing your neighbourhood.when you coerce your workers and insist that they must join in group prayers/night vigils in your organisation strictly according to your own pattern of worship without respecting there individual religious ideology or faith, even when it was never part of the terms of appointment, and when they refuse you label the person a demon/agent of darkness, that is religious intolerance. When you mount large speakers in front of your gate and every where around the building simply because your church approved your compound to be used for cell fellowship with a congregation that is barely up to 20 in number, and you mount this speakers even on the staircase without considering the comfort of your tenants even when it was never part of the tenancy agreement, that is religious intolerance. When you coerce all your tenants to participate in night vigils every month according to your own pattern of prayer, and anybody that refuses is labelled a tyrant, that is religious intolerance. Religious intolerance is when you think that your own religious ideology is the best and feel that others won't make heaven. You see many of us are guilty of this thing called Religious Persecution. We do it in one way or the other thinking we re fighting for God. Remember, you practise what ever religion you are practising today because you were born and subjected to a particular environment, or because of the conviction you are privileged to have , its all about faith, you don't have the right to fight another person's faith or label another person inferior because of what he or she has chosen to believe. I am a Christian today because of the strong conviction I still have in Jesus Christ irrespective of the trials that come with it, but I still have very wonderful and good hearted friends with different religious beliefs, and, these people have touched my life in marvelous ways. The truth is that most people want to please God today simply because of the promises attached to it, because of the things they stand to gain here on earth and finally in heaven after reaping the dividends of the earth fully, that is why many people that claim to love God will choose to remain in this earth instead of agreeing to die now now and go to heaven straight and meet the God they so much love without even passing through "purgatory"., This is the reason behind all these religious wars everywhere that is wreaking havoc on this earth...It is simply the SELF at work. We should learn to respect other people's religious ideologies and avoid bringing up religious matters in public gatherings of people with diverse interests, it shows religious maturity. For those of us that believe in God, let us remember always that we re no God, if He never wanted all these religious dichotomies He wouldn't have allowed it , may be if we were all united it would have been easy to build another Tower of Babel . The last time I checked the scripture, I remember Him saying that the battle is His and not ours so let us stop making Him appear weak before mortal men, because even in the midst of all these religious noise everywhere, things seem to get worse by the day, so, it calls for reflection. Believe what ever you want to believe, live peaceful among your fellow men and when people see you they will want to get closer to you to know the stuff you are made of. Action speaks louder than words......SHALOM.

So what's your post all about? Are you saying they should have bought one clipper for each student? The barbing saloon you do use, how many people do they use same clipper for per day?

All those quoting me and shouting "sterilization", dem tell you say I no know?

you are very ignorant and don't know the lifetime damage that using one clipper for a lot of people can cause. anybody going to a barbing saloon without a clipper is probably ignorant as well. clippers are as cheap as 3000 naira..money people will spend on beer and pepper soup.

I also don't see how anybody who can afford to go to CU whether on scholarship or whatever cannot buy a clipper of 3k. using that one clipper to cut the hair of many is like using one needle to inject many people. it is VERY DANGEROUS.

The school authority should know better with all the so call knowledge and exposure.

HIV dies in moments of exposure.
The chances of contracting HIV through clippers are really slim.

That doesn't justify the rubbish CU did though, because it's not only HIV out there.
I would rather be expelled than go through this.

Are those students babies for chrissakes?

Where did you learn that? I don't mind reading it up where you got that gist.
Virus are organisms that are partially living and partially non living things. The moment they are outside the body of their hosts, they take the form of non living things. In that state, they live/survive forever. And the moment they find a host again, they will come back to life.

Mehn!! am dam tired of diz our africa.d mentality african parents have about boys keeping hair and barbing/cutting and styling it to their desired comfort and happiness is so low and bad. okay why are girls not restricted to plaiting just one kind of hairstyle? i felt sad when i see this thread.does it means bearless and guys on lowcut/skinned cut are of decence or holy type..4 God sake their like bathing and keeping a pig clean .just imagine what will hapen when that same pig is freedom priviledged...they are just taming this guys 4 now...God himself does not look at human appearance/dressing just the heart and mindset

well, read it on some forum.

Also,on an American forum, A dad was concerned that the clipper cut his son, and a few doctors assured him that his son is unlikely contract hiv, and especially for the fact that the blood isn't enough to cause that from a clipper.
if HIV had high rates of transmission through clippers, believe me most Africans would be infected already.
many barbers in rural to less urban cities, even express surprise when u tell them to treat their tools.

You start wondering if they live under rocks.
