Just this afternoon, Bollywood actor Salman Khan was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case by a Jodhpur court. The actor was found guilty of killing two blackbucks and had been facing charges under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act. Salman allegedly killed the blackbucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Mathania village near Jodhpur on the intervening night of 1-2 October 1998, during the shooting of film Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Now that the verdict is out, Salman cannot apply for bail in the same court but instead can approach a session court for appeal. The actor has also been fined Rs 10,000 along with five years of jail. The actor’s lawyers will now approach the Rajasthan High Court for bail in this case.

Other than Salman Khan, actor Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were also accused in the case but they were let off by the court this morning. It’s also said that Bishnoi Sabha is appealing against the acquittal of Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam.

Soon after the actor was found guilty and the quantum of punishment was announced by the Jodhpur court, the actor has been taken to the Jodhpur jail. The actor was snapped entering the jail earlier in the day today.
