avoid buying strip down units, some people advertised laptops without batteries and hdd, claiming the units are good avoid such even if they sell dirt cheap, such units have serious board problem which cannot be fixed

Ensure you listen to the HDD for grinding noises when the system is powered ON. A grinding noise means a bad HDD that may fail soon.
