A large grocery shop that will at the end swallowed hundreds of small corner shops, provision shops and supermarkets. The multiplier effect means that many families will be pushed out of their means of livelihood.
He should not even consider coming to Anambra state, highly celebral governors will refuse them license to operate in their states, what we need now are production/manufacturing firms not all these gigantic retail/grocery outlets that afford our corrupt politicians an avenue to congregate and satisfy their unending appetite for foreign goods.

You make very valid points that I was concerned about myself.
However, a big problem with NEXT is ACCESSIBILITY. Not everyone knows about them yet. They have serious competition from MarketSquare and Everyday so they are "just one" of the big supermarkets. They are also located in a tricky area. Unless you're buying a relatively large quantity, whatever savings you would have made would be eaten up by transport.

I frequently go to NEXT. At least 4 times a month, sometimes more. I always see somebody buying in BULK. Why? To sell in their shops. Many people are using NEXT as their wholesalers because of reliability and affordability. I don't think the supermarket is having an effect on small businesses just yet.

To recap, NEXT is not swallowing small shops because they have other big supermarket competitors and they are not super accessible to everyone.

We're on the same bro. Honestly, it's beyond shameful that Nigerian with all its abundant wealth still hasn't been able to provide its citizens with constant, reliable and affordable electricity.

Who are Nigerians? Are you not a Nigerian?

have u ask ur self why there is no any manufacturing industry in Rivers state.
all the goods and commodities we use in Rivers state are from Aba and Onisha.

Who told you?

One thing I love about NEXT is the wide array of places wherein their goods are manufactured. There's soap from Senval, chocolate from Ghana, zobo, water from Port Harcourt, kilishi from Enugu, yoghurt from Nassarawa, etc.

That is one of the good things about mega stores like this. If your goods are sold there, you'll make a killing. You could even get other shop customers who buy from NEXT to sell.

It's a store not a mall.
Great investment by the Agulu, Anambra business family.

Anambra money at work. No wonder Obi could not pay water corporation workers, doctors went on strike for over one year and he refused to pay the minimum wage. Peter Obi is a foolish person for investing the looted money outside Anambra state. Didn't he see how Asiwaju invested all he stole from Lagos state back into Lagos state?

U are a slowpoke. Peter has been an international biz man b4 becoming a governor. Who was Asiwaju b4 he became a governor. Obi lives in Anambra and still does business there. So he shouldnt operate other businesses outside Anambra? Use ur brain not ur ass to think

Peter Obi was already an accomplished and wealthy businessman before he became Governor. Don't put him in the same category with a rogue.
How did he become wealthy, what is the source capital?

I dismissed the man when as a sitting Governor he built the largest mall in Abuja with his State having none. The Awka and Nnewi mall have been abandoned till date while the one at Onitsha is Shoprite.

What are we buying that we have not bought before? undecided

We need more efforts towards production and not a selfish gearing towards consumerism

What is production for if not for consumption?

Or you produce goods just to look at them?

Not to sell them?

Rubbish criticism.

stupid jobless mumu Nigerians! Peter Obi is using nigeria's money (your money) to set up a future for his great grand children (his children and grand children future are already set by now)and this poverty stricken fool is liking his "humility ". Or are you going to tell me that he made that much money from his official salary to open 2 big shopping center and other "post- governorship" business ventures? Watch as some poverty stricken idiots will "kill" themselves trying to defend Obi over this post.
Asslicking has destroyed Nigerian youths.
