In my village, Dowry is paid in a low key BTW Families and list of items is met. And you are free to go with your wife. Celebration is a choice , religious ritual is a choice, legal Court bla bla na choice. Once dowry is accepted, you are good go. Traditional /church or what so ever marriage is just wining and dining. my 2cents |

TheUpsetGirl:Expect fierce tongue lashing. I know of a Nigerian lady who got married in Canada for ten years and came down to Nigeria with her hubby to pay their dowry this year. Hey, I don't know your faith but I know family consent is primary in all faith. Some members will kick but it's allowed . No matter how the hurt you, take your stand that it's not gonna be Celebrated for peace and sanity sake. |

Traditional marriage is for traditionalists or those who are so enthusiastic about their tradition and to them it's a taboo not to adhere to custom. so in my view it isnt compulsory. Church marriage are for sound Christians..a must for them.. so Christians can decide to do church marriage and discard traditional. court marriage is the most secured and collectively accepted. the most advantageous marriage is court marriage cause is low cost, secure and easy. no hassles. FYI, to the matter, I think if you would do church marriage there for s no need for that traditional bullish. just waste of cash and time and seeing stupid "ndi umunna faces". we've past that stage once a true Christian you ain't bound to traditional brouhaha. 1 Like |
