ultron12345: That bridge is not only a critical public infrastructure, it's also a public investment. LLC is not pocketing every kobo generated, they are sharing the proceeds with the Lagos state government based on the concession arrangement. This is one of the many ways Lagos state generate huge IGR. Lagos state spent N29 billion on that bridge, but they are going to build many roads, bridges, hospitals, schools and other infrastructures from their share of the concession. This is why Lagos sate is leading, this is also why they are starting and completing projects all over the place, they have smart and creative leaders. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheAngry1: how much are you paid to monitor and respond on this thread..can u place a value on your birth right.. LCC spent 12yrs to build 21km from bonnycamp to Ajah nd fixed two toll gates.... while they are yet complete the remaining 54 km .. to Epe.. Thats wicked .. theft... who built the Ajah bridge .. who renovated the oversized and monitized roundabouts they built without reasoning .. not LCC.. same tinubu converted land meant for general hospital to a private estate.. the list is endless.. the other day i drove past what used to be lawma.. now its vision scape.. monumental fraud.. One day .. the day of reckoning will come .. nd history will judge all these criminals .. including the ones paying your fees .. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Ovamboland: Pay tax for what exactly? Pay tax for 2hours of light per day or for pot holes or for boreholes or pay tax for creating my own source of living cos d government is non existent? Sorry bro, they will have to put a knife to my throat. A government that does nothing deserves nothing. |

UfuomaUN: Tribalism is you Igbos labeling everything about Lagos state Tinubu. If you are going to challenge Tinubu about anything, shouldn't you at least first show us credible and documented facts and the connection between Tinubu and the Topic and how he's exploiting Lagos state? The fact that you Igbos are good at spewing ignorance and showing us your obsession with Tinubu, crying and moaning about Tinubu as if he's responsible for your backward villages and your lives doesn't mean anything until you show up in every thread to bore us with your Tinubu love tales and meaningless cries doesn't mean we have to entertain your rubbish. Yes, funny how Tinubu is looting Lagos state, but the same Lagos state is commissioning projects all over the place while your villages Tinubu is not looting commissions nothing but borehole and mediocre rubbish. 1 Like |

byteem: Your misinformation & confusion cannot help you. What matters most is delivery . Obasanjo called Lagos a jungle in 1999 but in 2017, he prayed to be alive to see Lagos becoming the 3rd best economy in Africa. I remember how Tinubu fought to recover Victoria Island from Atlantic Ocean. History will judge him. Attack on Tinubu is similar to attack on Dangote. Whenever there is any thread on dangote on nairaland, you see all sorts of insult against him . No objectivity, but out of jealous. If you are thinking of Tinubu you may have hypertension. You may get wrong information. We are not after personality but delivery. Roads in continual maintenance. Street lights at night, relaxation points with security, ambulance, pedestrian bridges, etc. All these will turn the entire area into an industrial hub. Already indusrries & estates are springing up but with management company, more players would be attracted. You have no stake on this road, you are just a passerby. This is my area I want development. Old Federal Secretariat at Ikoyi is a national property, we don't want our road to be like that. LCC will be the best thing that will ever happen to that road since it was created by OBJ during the military era. In fact, as an indigene of a major town along that route, I intend writing the three state governors whose states are along the axis of the road to be actively involve in the selection of the management company. No budget was made for Sagamu to Lagos in 2018 budget while outstanding loan is yet to be fully settled since last year October. Surprisingly, all those fighting for balkanization of Nigeria were happy last year when Berger suspended work & the Senate was harassing Fasola when he raised alarm. People like us with stake on that route are never happy. These same people are the ones making noise against LCC. They did not shout against Senate when Julius Berger suspended work. I am not much concern about what happens on Enugu / PHC or Aba / PHC express way though I pass the route occasionally. Since the FG had said the road would involve private public partnership & toll would be introduced to manage the roads on completion. The choice of the management company must be based on experience. That road is the busiest interstate road in Nigeria. Old Federal secretariat at Ikoyi is in a very sorry & bad state, highly dilapidated & abandoned because of hatred for one man (Asiwaju Tinubu) because of enviousness towards Lagos. If they had allowed Lagos to acquire that building as an extension of her Secretariat , it would not have been in a sorry state. We prefer LCC to any politically established inexperienced management company |

byteem: Strangely, this is a more civil response from you. (1). I am nobody's spin doctor, not everyone who holds an opinion online is paid to do so. (2). Isn't it commendable that LCC built a 21km road in 12 years according to you? How many roads has the federal government started and completed since 1999 (both PDP and APC regimes)? (3). I do not support injustice or corruption in anyway, but we have descended so low to the point that even if a governor would name all his children as commissioners and still get the job done, I would support that governor. I get your points and respect them, but I still insist that any progress at all, is better than inertia. |

[quohmmmmmmte author=TheAngry1 post=66676005]ol If you know how well-maintained Lekki Expressway is, you wouldn't complain about the company's desire to manage Lagos-Ibadan. The govt in Nigeria cannot manage ANYTHING. Any company that would ensure that the road is well-maintained should be given the job. I don't care whether the company belongs to Tinubu, Nnamdi Kanu or the Sultan. Just get the fvvvcking job done![/quote] |

What do your masters do with the allocation they get from the federal govt? what do they do with the tax that people pay? what do they do with all sorts of illegal levies they impose on people. So they still have to build toll gates and suck the people dry before they can fix roads. And how many of them bad roads in lagos have your ebil 2 Likes |

SalamRushdie: Stop grandstanding, we know your duty on nairaland is to oppose anything Buhari/Tinubu/APC no matter how good the move will be for the country. You go abroad as you claimed and there were no tolled roads there? Why should it be government in Nigeria with very low revenue that should shoulder the entire cost of maintenance? While the foreign countries you visited as a baby with mega revenues still collect road tolls. And wonder why government fails here. Why do you hate us so much to recommend the methods that has kept our roads in tatters? Irrespective of the origins of LCC it is still a privately owned company. If it is owned by Tinubu it's perfectly within his rights as a private citizen. He's not today a public servant or elected politician. However can you tell me what his benefits will be for spending his time and resources for political change if his company can not bid for public works and projects? If you're saying there is non compliance with public procurement rules or if his company is incompetent or doing a shoddy job then I can listen. What exactly precludes him or companies he has interests in from bidding for government jobs? Do you know companies in which he was alleged to have interest in bidded for public projects and won even when he was in opposition? Since about three years what are the projects he was awarded to execute in a government he helped to install? |

ThatCEO: In case you're ignorant, people living in progressive countries pay taxes and pay fees for all those things you listed above. They don't get free power, water and no they don't pick money on the roads. So you pay zero tax and spam the thread yapping about tax payers money? You are simply stealing from those of us who pay regular tax. Just know that each time you transact any business without paying tax or drive on any roads or streets built from our tax, you're commiting theft. They don't need a knife to your neck they need to hurl your arse to jail for your crimes. Pay your fair share is not too much to ask. |

Ovamboland:Well, a government that hides away when it's time to build roads suddenly shows it's head when it's time to collect tax, abeg! Yeah, it is legally wrong not to pay but it is morally right not to pay. I read that Aunty Kemi said that they had to postpone the date for VAIDS cos people were begging. Hehe, this people won't quit fooling themselves. By the way nobody is stealing from u, u didn't just bring out the money cos u Love naija so much, ur company most likely yanked it from ur pay. Stop letting these guys fool u. Ambode, Fayose, El Rufai, Saraki, Aunty Kemi n d likes r not more than 20 years older than u n I. Whatever position they hold today was not what fed u and I. Their money n power is not what sent you n I to schoool. So, what's so special about them that a group of people will be robbing us of our Commonwealth? What have they don't with d oil money? All stolen. Well, it's good to pay tax but I bet someone who is not as half as intelligent as u is using your money to eat goat meat. If u can leave with that, that's ok, but I won't be fooled n robbed by some dead brains. |

enlady:In other words, you would rather continue with the current atrocious state of affairs, where maintenance is at best sporadic, there are potholes everywhere, and the slightest rain turns large stretches of the road into a quagmire, rather than submit to a "wicked elitist toll scheme from Lagos" that pays for the meticulous upkeep of a development which is the envy of the rest of the country? This is what I mean when I say most Nigerians are "penny-wise, pound foolish", so obsessed with "awuf" and "cheap" that they fail to understand why their roads, their electricity, their stadiums, their schools and everything else they get "free" or "cheap" is in catastrophic condition. You are all too typical of the Nigerian masses who expect world-class infrastructure while refusing to pay more than a pittance for its upkeep. 2 Likes 1 Share |

CocoaOla:Stop writing nonsense! It wasn't "your" money that built any roads, it was federal allocations obtained from a mixture of oil rents and the corporate and import taxes derived from borders and ports mostly in the environs of Lagos. Most Nigerians pay virtually nothing in personal or value-added taxes. 1 Like |
