IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu’s Alleged Accomplices Yet To Get Bail by Ecstasy154(m): 4:31pm On Apr 13, 2018 |
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has slated May 21 for ruling on a bail application brought by a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Four IPOB members: Bright Chimezie, David Nwawuisi, Benjamin Madubugwu and Chidiebere Onwudiwe, were arraigned before the court, presided by Justice Binta Nyako after a similar charge involving the defendants was adjusted to exclude their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The defendants are accused of treasonable felony, following a call by their group (IPOB) for the breakaway of some parts of the country, to form the state of Biafra. The court had at its previous sitting adjourned hearing of bail applications to April 13. At the resumption of hearing on Friday, the prosecution lawyer, Colins Eromosele, asked the court for time to file his intended reply to the bail applications sought by the second to fourth defendant. Mr. Eromosele initially objected to the deposition of the bail applications by the second to fourth defendants, saying his team was not aware it would be heard on Friday. His objection was, however, overruled by Mrs. Nyako who noted that parties were duly served with the processes for the day’s proceedings. She adjourned the matter till May 21 for hearing of the bail application by the first to fourth defendants. The court will also rule on the application by the first defendant as well as proceed with the substantive matter. The trial of the IPOB members, which triggered widespread protests by their supporters, especially in 2017, began in 2015, when IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was first arrested and arraigned before a magistrate court in Abuja. Following the release of Mr. Kanu, in April 2017, the protests climaxed resulting in the deployment of soldiers in the South-east region, in what was termed operation python dance. Shortly after the soldiers were deployed to the region, Mr Kanu’s layer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, accused the Nigerian army of abducting his client during a raid at his (Kanu’s) country home, in Abia State last September. Following the disappearance of Mr. Kanu, the court separated his trial from that of the other four defendants. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-east/264881-ipob-nnamdi-kanus-alleged-accomplices-yet-to-get-bail.html/

The only thing I have against this trial is the long adjournments. This trial is in its third year and there has been no headway, yet, the judge will adjourn it for 2 or 3 months each time. A trial that should not take more than 3 months to dispense is heading to 3 years. |

gidgiddy: They know what they're doing. Some in the judiciary are in cahoots with Buhari, and they're acting out the script he wrote for them. |

gidgiddy:This happens when you decide to fight a sovereign nation that still controls her institutions, let IPOB go and dictate to the court and let's see. |

Yyeske: Then that makes it much worse because the judiciary and the courts are supposed to be an independent arm of government not under anyone's control. If the justice system of Nigeria is biased, unfair or sectional then it only adds the ever growing list of legitimate reasons why IPOB are right to agitate to leave Nigeria. 1 Like |

Nigeria is an unfortunate shithole. How could any reasonable fellow grant amnesty to Boko Haram fighters and refuse bail to IPOB protesters? Nigeria is a really sick place. 1 Like |

gidgiddy:I am tired educating you on this, I'm tired. Your IPOB Biafra would always be frustrated, go ask a second year law student how to go about it. Nnamdi kanu, a British citizen has been declared missing on Nigerian soil and the British government hasn't done anything about it, what does that tell you? Nigeria still controls her institutions and would use it to her advantage, same thing observed all over the world. Do the right thing and quite crying. |

DerideGull:IPOB is a proscribed group for now so bros, lie low for now. Tell others, you've heard about happenings in Anambra lately. We will take all of you down. Our pledge and resolution is to take IPOB down. You dare challenge us, insult our traditional institutions, insult our monarchs, insulted our governor and threatened Ndianambra with death because of a guber election? Damn! You will see more, we warned IPOB earlier but they thought we were joking. Next time you guys should know that that Anambra the first son in Igboland according to IPOB and Uche Mefor must always remember we dictate what happens in Igboland. Crap from crappies. 1 Like |

Yyeske: See this Igbo wannabe making noise about Anambra doing this and that with IPOB. I'm clued up to your tactics though.....try to cause division among Ndigbo by making it a Ipob-vs-Anambra thing! I've always suspected you and that vile creature called chino (and all his other alternate monikers) are cut from the rag. Pathetic Buhari/Fulani arsse kisser! |

Re: IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu’s Alleged Accomplices Yet To Get Bail by Xander85: 12:10pm On Apr 14, 2018 |
Yyeske: What the f/uck are you on about? Is it the same Anambra that joined in the stay-at-home directive called by IPOB? The same Anambra that saw huge crowds come out to welcome Mazi Kanu? I will always place the interest of the generality of Ndigbo first before talking of state this...governor that, constructs of 'one Nigeria' fashioned to divide and hold us down as a people! Look where the potentially great Igbo race is today in your bloody 'one Nigeria' (Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Delta-Igbo and Rivers-Igbo) and compare our fortunes to those who at best are supposed to be our equals: Rwanda, Botswana, Ghana, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Dubai, etc. Look where we are in comparison to these other great nations, and come back to tell me 'one Nigeria' hasn't held us down and destroyed what it means to be Igbo! Alaigbo should be running neck-and-neck with these countries, or even surpassing their developmental efforts, but instead we're stuck in 'one Nigeria' to be measuring dic/ks with other potentially great but equally unfortunate races like the Yoruba who ordinarily should also be competing with the likes of those great nations mentioned earlier! We're now reduced as a people to be celebrating mediocrity like street lights and roads when instead we should be reaching for the stars! Gidgiddy made a salient point when he stated that the absence of justice and fairness in Nigeria legitimises Igbos agitation, and all you could respond was to essentially say that 'might is right'....mocking the fact that Mazi Kanu has been declared missing and that there's fuc/k all we concerned individuals can do about it! No true Igbo man would take the position you've taken concerning our fight for emancipation in 'one Nigeria' and the IPOB issue....no true Igbo man would be such a kiss-arsse Buhari/Fulani lover to the detriment of his people the way you've been carrying on on this forum! You're a fraud! |
