I was a victim today. Bought a couple of Panasonic Airconditioners today and noticed that the portion where the serial number and Date of prod are supposed to be had been cut off on all of the units. Out of curiosity, i went online and discovered that Panasonic is already aware of such units and had placed a public notice telling buyers to beware.

so, before you pick up your panasonic AC, check to make sure it has a serial number and date of production.
