Cocoa Sector Anticipates A $290, 000 Tons Rebound For The 2017-18 Mid-crop by postbox: 6:34am On Apr 18, 2018 |
In Nigeria, the operators of cocoa sector forecast a 15% increase in production during the 2017/2018 mid-crop, which begins by April / May. According to Savina Riman, head of Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN), adequate sunshine and good rainfall will help harvest 290,000 tons of cocoa. This contrasts with the 40% decline a year earlier, due to drought. Regarding the main season, the official said that the dry weather that strikes the growing areas could cause the country to miss its production target of between 300,000 tons and 320,000 tons. Let’s recall that Nigeria, which is the world sixth-largest cocoa supplier, produced 225, 000 tons of the beans during the 2016/2017 season. 290,000 dollars or 290,000 turns? The title of a write-up is very important, some don't bother reading the content. 1 Like |

Our agric. sector is now growing thanks to P M B however we need to start our own chocolate producing industry here before exporting the excess raw cocoa. Say Buhari say Baba. Less I forget, this my question goes the board of Oduduwa as to the position of the Cocoa board store at Ogba in Ikeja built during the Obafemi Awolowo era where cocoa are being stored before shipping the little we know about it now is that it is being used by Guinness factory to store the empty cartons of their products. The question now is was it just let out for a period of time or has been looted out to the factory now that the era of cocoa production has resurfaced ? Over to you now Board of Oduduwa. |
