Hello people, I would really appreciate ur help and advice as regards this topic.
I have a B.tech in Microbilogy but want to change my career. Reasons being that its not much of a big deal here in naija. While I was still in skool, I made up my mind to go into management but somewhere along the line I found serving in d finance dept of a telecoms company. After much talk with people who told me d benefits of accounting, I decided to register for ACCA (association of chartered certified accountants).
I was supposed to sit for my first paper december last year but I didn't. I registered again dis year for june exams (I went for lectures, bought d exam kit and study txt) but somewhere along d line I started losing interest again and I'm not quite sure I would be writing the exam dis june.
All I'm trying to say is dat I would love to have a career that offers me flexibility and not just some laid down rule. I have never tried management but I think it could offer me what I want.
So if u're a practising accountant or into management or have an idea about this, I would really need ur help. Thanks in advance

@ Poster, I would rather pursue a course in Accounting. You will have a better perspective in Management if you have all the fundamentals in Accounting, for this will give you the business insights and tools needed for greater flexibility in a career that you are looking for particulary in the corporate world. Accounting is a growing field. There are a lot of opportunities for career advancement as long as you have that "certifications or qualifications" and meaningful experience that will prove your competence level. Anyhow, you have to carefully assess your strenghts and desires before deciding on a career. For some, Accounting offers stability and financial reward but it takes patience and strong work ethics. what do you mean by Management ?
