So the so called hallowed chamber has turned to a hallowed thoroughfare to warrant unfettered access to the mace . Are there no security officials there?

Change the Sergeant-at-Arm asap.

Those overfed Senators are making mockery of our democracy.

Really, is Nigeria as a country owning up to such name as, 'shithole'-where anyone could do anything they like and get away with it.

We often make people out side the world wonder, how certain situation could take place, without any form of intervention. We must also note that, there are certain things we do not disclose, due to its dumb nature, just like this one-

Or better still tie a rope and hang yourself?

Fights in parliament have occurred in many, many countries, including the white countries you worship.

Such scenes actually symbolize a vibrant democracy.

In none of these countries do the citizens use the parliamentary fights as an excuse to start insulting their country online and calling it ''shithole'' etc. Except in Nigeria, a country filled with pathetic citizens of inferiority complex X 1000.

In advanced countries the senate is a place reserved for people of great integrity and moral character. It is a place for people of timbre and calibre. But in Nigeria the holy chambers of the Nigerian senate is peopled by Cultists, crooks, criminals, clowns and thugs all disguised as politicians. All manners of daylight robberies goes on in the Nigerian senate from massive budget padding, mega contract inflation to grand conspiraces with foreigners to swindle the Nigerian state of billions of dollars. Nigerian Senators elected to legislate for the improvement of the lives of the people are more concerned with legislating on their salaries and allowances. They increased their salaries illegally from N750,000 to N3.5 million per month, then they increased it to N13.5 million per month, then they increased it to N800 million per year. What! You say? You heard right. That is what senators now earn. I am not surprised that there is commotion in the senate. In fact, it is just the beginning.

For those who may not know, the National Assembly Complex is not a place you just casually stroll in as you want and pick up an item as important as the Mace. It is the 2nd Arm of Government with adequate security 24 hours. To gain access into the Complex, you will pass through one of the most time-consuming, energy-sapping, rigorous screenings available anywhere in Nigeria and a tag assigned to you after you must have provided details of which office you're going to and a confirmation gotten from same office that you're expected (unless you're going to submit a letter).

For a group of thugs to have gained access into the Assembly Complex and even passed through another layer of security by the Chamber's entrance, a high-powered Official must have granted them clearance. Someone far above Senator Omo-Agege and who can give senior police officers directives.

We all know the Senate just yesterday commenced investigations into a $462m unappropriated expenditure by the Buhari govt to purchase helicopters. The CBN Governor and Minister of Defence were alleged to have been summoned to explain why such huge amounts would be taken from the Treasury without proper approvals and paid to an unknown company in the US in the guise of purchasing helicopters.

This act of attacking a Senate that was in session and carting away it's symbol of authority looks every inch like what was planned by the people who don't want to be exposed. Senator Omo-Agege wouldn't be the first Senator to be suspended and he knows invading the National Assembly with thugs won't make his case any better. He must have been contacted to use his grouse with the Senate leadership as a guise to cover the real intent. They want to destroy the National Assembly to cover their evil. They want to plunge us into a full blown dictatorship. Please don't take my words for it but watch how this matter will be handled by the APC government. Watch to see if the Senator and his thugs will be punished.

If you're in Nigeria, prepare for the dramas coming up in the days and weeks ahead as the elections approach. It will be interesting and I pray none of us becomes a victim of the games ahead.

adudu208:
This is an indictment on the security agencies. That thugs and miscreants can gain entry into the chamber and made away with the Mace indicates that either the executive arm of government is in tacit support of them or some elements dissatisfied with status quo are trying to instigate choas in other to truncate our democracy.

To imagine that the DSS, Police and other security agencies that have responsibility to guard the National Assembly complex and provide security for the Senators went to sleep while the drama played out is curious and highly condemnable.

Unfortunately, some dimwits from Delta State have allowed themselves to be used as pawns in this macabre drama.

You reason like a fool. The disruptions in the Nigerian parliament CAN also be seen or explained in terms of this or that group fighting for the benefit of the masses. Such sentiments are not reserved for ''oyibos''. Likewise the fracas in any of those other parliaments posted COULD be for one party or the other's selfish purposes. There is no skin colour or national code that dictates where the mind's intent lies. The way you people reason - your self-hate - is so pathetic and disgusting.

Of course they are very happy. What else do they know how to do BUT call their country names? They hate themselves, and every incident - such as this one - is an excuse to spew their hatred of their country. Do you idiots actually realise that it is that disgruntled hopelessness and hostility towards your country that feeds corruption and other ills?

If you think the country is a worthless 'shithole' and you gain political power, is the next thing not to steal funds? You will steal, since you have no faith in the country. That is why I think those of you who relentlessly insult and abuse the country are the very worst of us, and we dare not entrust you with public funds or public office, because you will sell the country down the river.

Nobody called Nigeria a ''shithole''' except you and your fellow self-hating Nigerians. The US mad dictator labelled African nations as such, NOT Nigeria specifically. But your widely broadcast self-hate has led the world to think he called Nigeria that name, which he never did.

And the entire 'shithole' crap is based on gross ignorance of the world in general, not least from a lunatic mental midget who somehow became US president. A world in which 80% of nations are developing nations, which share ALL the problems Nigeria is going through.

But because of your colonial past, when you travel abroad, you visit the UK and the USA and Europe. You rarely visit your fellow developing countries like Peru, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Mexico, Pakistan, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Uganda, India, Bolivia, or Venezuela.

You run to London, USA, or Paris. This has brainwashed you into thinking ''everywhere outside Nigeria'' is advanced and developed, not realising that those western nations are the distinct minority on earth.

If you Nigerians actually, genuinely travelled the world as explorers, rather than to a few European nations as ex-colonised admirers of whitey, you will quickly realise that Nigeria is not unique in its problems. That power failure, teacher strikes, corruption, lack of running water, and bad roads affect the VAST MAJORITY of the world's countries. And that the people in those countries do not hate themselves and their countries for being developing nations.

What is this one saying bikonu?

You must think that you are talking to a novice right

As one who has travelled around, I daresay that Nigeria's problems are very much unique to Nigeria.
And it's a big, big shame.

Yes I see Nigeria's potentials and opportunities, but I have to be truthful to myself and not live in self denial like you.

There are several countries that I have been to that are far poorer than Nigeria, but does not have one-fifth the problems Nigeria have.

And yes again, as Trump referred to Africa as a shithole, Nigeria is in Africa, and it's a shithole, simple and short. No need to sugarcoat it

See our people trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe in their sheer numbers undecided undecided

You are a fcking liar. Name ONE Nigerian problem that is unique to Nigeria. Just one.

Is is not about money. That you have a lot of money does NOT imply that you should not have problems as a developing nation. Many other factors come into play that have absolutely nothing to do with money. A nation of 300 different ethnicities coming together to form a nation is in itself a huge problem. How many ethnic groups and languages are there in the UK or Germany?

And yes again, as Trump referred to Africa as a shithole, Nigeria is in Africa, and it's a shithole, simple and short. No need to sugarcoat it

And you say Africa no be shithole.

You reason like a dunce. Africans are travelling today PRECISELY BECAUSE of the progress the continent has made in terms of mass education and the economy. Our grandparents were village illiterates, courtesy of colonial misrule and neglect of education. They had no thoughts of 'escaping' to Europe because they were not equipped to do it. They had no education. THEY lived in worse conditions than those people crossing the Sahara today to enter Europe. Those are people with thousands of dollars and an education. So they dream big. They want to try their luck in the world. The same thing happened when China was rising 30, 40 years ago. As millions got educated, they left China in seek of 'greener pastures'. Today in America you have whole city sections called ''Chinatown'', in New York and other large cities. Indians same thing. There are more Indians than Africans in Europe and the USA.

People of those nations will never tolerate anyone referring to their lands as shitholes, even though they are still developing countries, and neither should Africans. Only a person with inferiority complex and self-hate will refer to his own country as a 'shithole'. It is not a crime, or something to be ashamed of, to be a developing country. That is something many Nigerians need to get into their thick skulls.

Indians and Pakistanis always complain about their country, but I have never seen a Chinese complain about his country tho

If your child is an slowpoke, the child is an slowpoke, point blank.

So I don't know why Africans are piseed when their fellow Africans call it shithole.

For me, I see it as a call to change, change the status quo, and if we are not ready to do so, I'm afraid Africa is still a shithole.

If we can make consistent progress no matter the speed over 20 years, nobody will call Nigeria/Africa a shithole

After all, back then they used to refer to Japanese products as inferior (indeed they were inferior as at then) but they have improved over the years, now Quality is associated with Japanese stuff.

Mexico is making progress too, such that less and less Mexicans are ready to cross the fence to the other side.
those crossing are predominately from the lower side of central America eg Nicaragua etc

Let the same happen to Nigeria and let's see who will call it a shithole

It is WRONG to call an entire CONTINENT by any slur. You are CRAZY to do that. Africa has 54 countries all with varying degrees of development, and comprises 1.2 billion people. You simply cannot slur it with a single negative brush. How dare you?

Your problem is that you are brainwashed by the western media's biased and thoroughly negative portrayal of Africa. Because ALL they ever show you is deprivation in Africa and NEVER any progress, it has influenced the way you see your own continent, and that is really tragic.

Yea, Africa has different countries with different levels of developments, some are doing well, most are not!

And majority carries the vote

If out of 55 countries (South Sudan is now free) , more than 40 are shitholes, for God's sake, calling Africa a shithoke is not out of place completely

You these pan Afrcanista refuse to see things for what they are, And that's the problem

How many African countries have you been to

I have travelled around, and been to a handful of them over time, and what I see in many cases annoy me undecided
though Naija own is on another level.

I have worked with volunteer organisations and they took me to some countries, yes, some countries have made impressive progress (Shout out to Botswana, Ivory coast and Tanzania) but hey, we still have Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea (very big shitholes)

Let us work together as Africans to make our continent a better place.
that way, nobody will call the place a shithole

That's Just the way it is, no sentiment
