Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, some state governors, dignitaries within and outside the country will, on Tuesday, April 24, witness the inauguration of the new headquarters building of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Gbagada, Lagos.


General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, in a statement, commended leaders and members of the church worldwide, whose contributions saw the completion of the project.

The construction lasted for a little over a decade.

“I just want to thank God and, at the same time, commend every member of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Nigeria and beyond, for their patience all through the years the project lasted. Their contributions in terms of finance and human resources despite the challenging times have been heart-warming and praise-worthy,” the cleric said.

The General Superintendent explained that the edifice is not a show of riches or worldly advertisement of any kind, but a project borne out of a genuine desire to give God the best.

According to him, “The project is not, in any way, an advertisement of self or riches. It is served to accelerate the earnest fulfilment of the Great Commission. There are no riches to advertise anyway because the resources came from all strata of membership of the church. Everyone contributed his or her mite. It was a determination to give God the very best.

“When you read through the scriptures, you find that tabernacles were huge edifices that evoked the aura of the Almighty. When you read about the nature of the building that King Solomon built for God, it was magnificent and befitting of worship of the Owner of the whole universe.

“We in Deeper Life Bible Church believe in preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and we hope that the new building will attract people who ordinarily may not think of coming to hear the word of God. And the Bible tells us that one soul is greater in value than all the riches of the world put together. So then, if by putting up the building, a soul is saved from the fury of hell fire, we would have achieved God’s goal.”

Kumuyi stated that the 35,000-seat edifice and the already commissioned car park, bridge and traffic lights around the auditorium were completely funded through the contributions of members of the church.

Awesome.... The issue I have is that it is still some deeper life members/catholics that would come to attack the likes of Oyedepo and Adeboye when they build their own big cathedtals. I remember that before deeper life went into building of universities some of their members here on NL criticized and compared endlessly against the rccg's and the likes. Soon enough deeper life got a university and it turned out equally as expensive as that of them Oyedepo and Adeboye. Same with the catholic universities that sprung up. Augustine university might even be more expensive than landmark. Let us stop this I better pass you complex in christianedom!

Sir, I completely agree with you that the Nigerian youths are lazy and uneducated and always wanting free oil money. Their role models are in Aso Rock enjoying free oil money without even solving any problem for the country. When they are ill, they fly abroad for medical vacation with free oil money.

Sir, let me remind you that we have seen so many Nigerian youths who were almost useless in Nigeria, but when they cross over to the western world, they suddenly begin to excel in different fields of endeavor. What do you think is responsible for their positive output in the foreign land? Your guess is as good as mine, Sir- The difference is not farfetched. A responsible government plan for their youths and create enabling environment for the youths to be able to create wealth and contribute to National development. Can we say the same of your own country? Certainly Not! Instead, we have lazy, uneducated youths who would hang on telecommunication masts and electric cables to shout SAI BABA when you visit their states. I only wish they knew better.

Sir, Finally, let me ask you, Sir, apart from the free oil money we have been paying you since your days as a youth till date, what have you been able to make out for yourself on your own? Do you have thriving businesses that are providing employment for the Nigerian youths? Have you invented anything on your own? Sir, you can now see that this free oil money is what has kept you going for over 50 years. Perhaps this laziness is not limited to the youths alone, I guess some 75-year-old incompetent presidents are also lazy and love free oil money, that's why they want to remain in power till they are 80 years old. yea that I pull you down syndrome is so rife in many Nigerian churches. I recently read where one of the leaders of cherubim and seraphim called other churches "misfourtunate" for having money to build universities while theirs has not been completed for about 11 years.

According to him the money other churches are getting to be able to build churches must be proceeds of corruption and I just sighed. That is the problem we have in Nigerian Christianity. Everyone was criticizing dem Oyedepo who where the first to venture into the university system. But when they established their own they discovered it was impracticable to lower fees to the point where poor people would be able to attain.

We still had pastor bakare slam churches with "expensive tuition" and I am patiently waiting for the 50,000 naira/year university that latter rain would establish. I am not throwing shades at anyone but I have discovered that the better than thou attitude of churches is too rife and it must stop.

The only reason you built that edifice is on my profile !

Much as I like the denomination we don't need more church buildings.

We need factories and research centres.

We need hubs for great minds and enterprise.

Be gone with these religious houses already.
