Governor Okowa Is A Blessing To Delta State -- Dr. Okwuada by HenryUbus12345(m): 8:23am On Apr 20, 2018
The impressive performance of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of Delta State has continued to attract positive comments from Deltans, with the latest coming from a renowned agriculturist and entrepreneur, Dr. Philip Okwuada, who described the governor as a blessing to the people of Delta State.

Dr. Okwuda, who fielded questions from journalists at his country home at Agbor, Ika South local government area of Delta State, maintained that Governor Okowa has done creditably well in all sectors.

According to him, "it is a well known fact, and generally acknowledged that Governor Okowa's achievements especially in infrastructural development is unprecedented in the history of Delta State. There is hardly any community in the state where the imprint of his infrastructural development drive is not seen. In less than three years in office the governor was able to execute well over a hundred road projects, not to mention the construction and rehabilitation of schools, hospitals, markets etc. In fact, the governor's exploit in road construction has earned him the nickname, 'Road Master'

"We are all witnesses to what is going on in Asaba, the state capital. Hitherto neglected areas are being opened up with massive construction of roads. There is also the very critical and important water storm drain projects currently going on in different parts of Asaba, the aim of which is to bring to a stop the perennial flooding that has ravaged Asaba in recent years, which has become a source of embarrassment to the government, and frustration to residents of the capital city. Serious attention is equally being paid to the Asaba International Airport to bring it up to international standard."

Another area identified by Dr. Okwuada is human capital development, which he opined the governor has raised the bar through the STEP and YAGEP programmes initiated to tackle the monster of unemployment among the youths, saying that the governor has used the programmes to boost human capital development in the state.

According to hin, "the thousands of young men and women that have benefited from the training and empowerment are now recognisable entrepreneurs, who today, have become employers of labour, thereby reducing the unemployment rate in the state. Today, these individuals are helping in their own way to enhance the socio-economy of Delta State. I want to say with all sense of responsibility that Governor Okowa has shown tremendous capacity in governing the state even in the face of daunting challenges especially in the area of paucity of funds.

"Governor Okowa has also paid special attention to agriculture, making it very attractive to the youths, who form bulk of the state's population. Many youths are going into agriculture as a result of the incentives and favourable disposition of the Okowa - led administration to agriculture."

Speaking further, Dr. Okwuada, who is the Managing Director of Phed Breeder Farm and Hatchery, Agbor, and Phed Agro-Vet, Kano, explained that, "the peace being enjoyed across Delta State as a result of Governor Okowa's effort, is partly responsible for the high oil output Nigeria is producing, which in turn has shore up the country's revenue, thereby increasing our state's share from the federation account allocation.

"I tell you, if the peace we are currently experiencing is maintained there is no telling the gains we will witness in terms of all round development across the state in the next five years of Governor Okowa's administration.

"With the giant strides made by the governor in the last three years particularly during the period of the last recession, I keep imaginning what he will achieve in few years to come. When the administration moves into the second tenure one can well be assured of the massive development that Deltans will witness.

"I therefore, call on Deltans to remain peaceful, continue to pray and remain supportive of the governor and his administration, for him to do much more for our people.

"I am equally using this opportunity to implore eligible voters especially those who are yet to register to do so without further delay, and those who have registered but have not collected their PVCs to please do so, as that is the only potent political weapon they can use to return Governor Okowa for second tenure."
