I read some comments here and I am still in shock. One person even called World Bank (Father Christmas). World Bank will give you loan and control your resources, they will even dictate what you should do in your economy. Nigerians should solve their problem by themselves just like the Minister of Finance said.

Another gaffe! She will soon come out to deny it. She's obviously frustrated that the world bank is not buying into their kangaroo economic plans.

Then 'The Lord of Shit and Mess Clearing', Femi Adesina will come out to insult us again that we don't understand simple English...

This lady obviously don’t want the bank to assess our debts and tell us the truth which is that this government have borrowed and squandered our future. That there is no hope on the horizon. That after Buhari leaves, Nigeria will be insolvent.

Which help did the World Bank rendered when over $50 billion Nigeria money was looted & squandered under GEJ when Mrs Okonja - Iweala was the Minister of Finance? What help did they rendered when Oil sold between $118/barel to $140/barel for 6 yrs at steady high output, the highest income ever made by any country in AFRICA, yet no saving. They squandered & looted everything. They went on spending the reserve Obj left in 2007 (approximately $50 billion) leaving about $25 billion as at May 29, 2015. What advice did they offer GEJ when he was borrowing heavily while oil price was increasing until the price fell, making him to borrow to pay salary?

I don't blame the people talking trash here. We have a very lousy President who was overrated before being elected as a President. The National Assembly leadership election exposed his naivety & dumb ignorance wasting years of efforts of the opposition.

He should be sent back to Daura if possible before 2019.

Please can someone explain the rationale behind having savings in a bank and still go ahead to borrow money with high interest rate and at the same time struggling to pay only the interest and also struggling to save.
Please don't laugh me as I really need help understanding why Nigerian government is borrowing heavily and at the same time trying hard to impress on Nigerians that the money in foreign reserve is increasing astronomically while still looking for more money to borrow and struggling to pay the interests on Dept owed.
Please can someone help or anyone or somebody or even anybody help me understand

yes obasanjo cleared the debt, Jonathan brought back the debts with a vengeance despite racking in huge revenues depleted the foreign reserve which lead the nation into the recession. Now Bubu has increased the foreign reserve, led the nation out of recession and paid most of the back log of salaries and contracts owed by Jonathan. The major issue is the herdsmen killing which he is handling well to an extent

What sort of Nation will allow a president and ministers to rule for a year without telling them the salary it is collecting. Journalist are afraid to ask. Is the military dictator and his ministers paying themselves millions of dollars each month only to turn around to force huge TAXES, on the poor man. Where is our Religious Leaders,PENGASAN, NUPENG, DOCTORS and ASSU to mobilise the masses like what happend recenty to Jacob Zuma of South Africa. Is it only when they want to increas their salary they will strike

The way to know a country is about to take a world bank and IMF package is when they openly attack it.

Issafela:
While speaking with journalists at the ongoing Spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund. The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun has said Nigeria does not need the help of the World Bank in assessing its debts level.

“We don’t need the World Bank if they want to come and help us, great, but we don’t need them,” the minister said while emphasizing that Nigerians and the Debt Management Office (DMO), are all the FG needs in assessing the nation’s debt level.

She also said the Nigerian government had no other option than to borrow to bring the country out of recession.

The Minister said, “There were two options to end recession; one was cut back, lay people off and wait for oil prices to recover or be more aggressive, expand your budget, take on more debts and invest in infrastructure in hope that you will get growth going to develop more revenue.

We’ve expanded our budget, we pumped money into the economy, we made sure recession was not prolonged.

We are now back into growth, we need to accelerate that growth and focus on revenue mobilization which in turn will reduce our debt pressures. If we were still in recession, we’d have far bigger problems.

I think what people haven’t realized is how much work had to be done to make sure that that recession was as short as possible because that would have caused real pain for the people. We shortened it, we had to borrow to do so and we make no apologies for that.”

Do We Need World Bank In Assessing Our Debt Level? She Said If They Wanted To Help, It Would Be Great. Let's Not Follow These Selfish Politicians In Criticizing Everything.
