Inter Milan were crowned Italian champions for the fifth consecutive season on Sunday, but Jose Mourinho's side had their nerves tested as Claudio Ranieri's Roma pushed them all the way.

With Inter still being held away at relegated Siena, Roma took a 2-0 lead against Chievo thanks to two emphatic finishes from Mirko Vucinic and Daniele de Rossi and, as things stood, were leading Inter on the clubs' head-to-head record.

But Diego Milito scored his 28th goal of the season in all competitions when finishing expertly past Gianluca Curci after 57 minutes to give Inter the win and with it the Scudetto.

The result means they finish two points ahead of Roma, and have the chance to win an historic Treble when they play Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Sampdoria secured the final Champions League spot, joining Inter, Roma and AC Milan in Europe's top competition, thanks to a 1-0 win over Napoli. Giampaolo Pazzini scored after 51 minutes.



Palermo could have taken fourth place if Samp slipped up but in the end a 2-1 victory over Atalanta was not enough. Edinson Cavani scored twice, including an injury time penalty.

Atalanta, Siena and Livorno were all relegated, while Palermo and Napoli took the Europa League spots.
