Bayern Munich are currently chasing their sixth European Cup trophy, as they hope to repeat their 2013 treble-winning feat.
The Bavarians are no doubt a strong force in the European scene as well as a strong contender for the Champions League title, but they will need to be in the best of form if they are to defeat the current Champions League champions and twelve time winners.

Both soccer giants fight for supremacy in the first leg tie of the Champions League semi-final at the Allianz Arena tonight.
Bayern’s veteran coach, Jupp Heynckes who came out of retirement in September to take charge of Bayern again, said despite Real’s strength, the two consecutive Champions League title winners are no favourites.

“This match will be a delight for the football consumer because you have top players on both sides and teams play attractive football, cultivated football”, Heynckes said.

“There is no favourite; although I do have a good feeling for us.”
At the far end of Madrid, club’s defender Dani Carvajal says he’s confident Real Madrid can make history and become the first team to win the Champions League three years in succession.

Carvajal told Madrid’s website: “Nothing is impossible, we’re going to fight for it.
“We are working hard and, if wee done it twice, why wouldn’t we go for that third consecutive Champions League?

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to reach the semi-final every year. Every year has something special and this season more so, due to teams we’ve come up against. We are happy and looking forward to playing the game.”

On the availability of players for the clash, Zinedine Zidane’s men have no new injury worries after the having no domestic duty over the weekend.

And with centre back Sergio Ramos back from suspension and Nacho back in training, the team is set for the semi-final battle against their familiar foe
.

Bayern’s Heynckes have no injury concerns too as those unavailable have been out for a long while with goal keeper Neuer who has a foot problem played last for the Bavarians in September, while Arturo Vidal is out for the rest of the season due to knee injury. French winger Koman has been out since February with an ankle injury.

Tonight’s game will be the third time since 2011/12 that Bayern and Real Madrid have faced each other in the Champions League semi-finals, with Madrid progressing in 2013/14 while the German emerging victors in 2011/12 meeting.
