Good day Distinguished Nairalanders. I need advice urgently from mature minds to make a decision.
I got a job with my current employer in 2015, it is a role where career growth is minimal. I have always has a passion for finance oriented roles but I couldn't land any and I'm not getting younger. Finance roles in my group of companies required experience making me not eligible to apply. I have gotten an opportunity in the another company now & the notice period is too short of which I know I'll have to sacrifice my salary in lieu of notice. The nature of my job requires that I hand over properly to ensure a smooth transition in my absence and my employer is responsible for my education from cradle till I graduated from the University and other things that are too many to list here. I feel guilty wanting to leave abruptly with no notice. My employers are more of a family whereby I have job security as the role was offered to me since I was unemployed for a while. Now my employer has been responsible for my younger sister's education in private university as well as my mothers upkeep due to her health and is the reason I've stayed this long with them. I am likely to loose this opportunity of my family's upkeep to pursue a career in a the financial services industry that is volatile. My expected pay if I get the role may not be able to sustain my mother's health as well as my sister's education which is the most important thing.
I am begin to critically think if pursuing my dreams to the detriment of my mother's health which I may not be able to sustain in the short run. She has lived I life I know but in the end is my happiness is paramount of which money and title is not everything but love is. I am unfulfilled in this position since I know my worth but I can be moved to a finance role by my employer where I will likely learn and grow and my family still been taken care of but the societal expectation of a better title among others is making me think otherwise.
Please kindly advice me if I should take the risk of leaving or staying back to ensure my family is taken care of and a probable offer.
