However, always learn to escalate issues beyond you to your supervisor or superior as the case may be.

If you had reported this incident to your supervisor they take the blame and you are safe.

As a banker learn not to kill transactions on your desk.

In this case the right thing would have been to keep the caller on hold why you report to your supervisor for further directive.

I am sure this will be a lesson to you and others who are CEOs on their desk .
