UEFA-CL: Coach Jupp Heynckes Drops Arjen Robben From Trip To Santiago Bernabeu by dabblesports(m): 2:47pm On May 01, 2018
Bayern Munich visits the Santiago Bernabeu with the services of the Dutch winger Arjen Robben after he suffered a leg injury eight minutes in to the first leg.

His early replacement in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final affected the attack-mindedness of the team and they went on to lose 2-1 in front of their fans.

Midfielder Javi Martinez (head) and left-back David Alaba (thigh) are expected to be part of the team once again.

The injury worries ahead of the epoch match is not just a one-sided problem as Real Madrid’s right-back Dani Carvajal is likely to miss out due to a hamstring problem but despite the shoulder injury sustained by Spanish midfielder Isco, he trained on Monday with the team.

Madrid’s coach Zinedine Zidane was coy on who fill the vacant role of the injured Carvajal, and centre-back Nacho and winger Lucas Vasquez are the mostly likely candidates.

The Frenchman added that his side will look to attack from the start irrespective of the mathematical analysis that even a 1-0 loss to visiting Bayern will see them through to the finals.

“The key thing for us is to think about winning the game and to go on to the pitch wanting to do that,” Zidane said. “We need to go out to score quickly and that’s what we’ll try to do.”

Zidane also doesn’t think his future depends on winning the Champions League as they prepare for the semi-final second leg tie against Bayern Munich.

When Zidane was asked if he had to win the tournament to keep his job, he said: “It’s independent of that.”
Zidane’s side have not been knocked out of Europe once during his two-and –a-half years in charge did say: “Today I’m am coach and I want to continue at this club.

“But it’s not important. What matters to everyone is thinking about this game and that’s it.”

Bayern interim manager Jupp Heynckes says his side will look to remedy their errors from the first leg.

“We need to minimize our mistakes and we want to change a few things from the first leg,” he said.

“Changing nothing would be an error. I saw positive things but there are things to be fixed. I’ll be trying to rectify mistakes; we’ll try to attack. We conceded goals because of some mistakes – it had nothing to do with the organisation or style of play.
