Champions League 2018 Final: All You Need To Know by williamdeluxe(m): 6:50am On May 03, 2018 |
The 2017-18 Champions League comes to a conclusion next month and Europe's best team will be crowned after 11 months of action in the continent's top tournament. Having kicked off its qualifying stage last June, then transitioning to the final 32 in September, UEFA's flagship club competition has now been whittled down to the final two. WHEN AND WHERE IS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL The 2018 Champions League final will be played at the NSC Olimpiyskiy (also known as the Olympic Stadium) in Kiev, Ukraine . The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 26 and is set to kick off at 19:45 BST (14:45 ET) . Home of Dynamo Kiev and the Ukraine national team, the Olympic Stadium previously hosted the final of Euro 2012 between Spain and Italy, which La Roja won 4-0. It has a capacity of 70,000 - reduced to 63,000 for football - and is considered a Category 4 stadium by UEFA. WHAT TEAMS ARE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL Real Madrid are chasing their 13th title having defeated Bayern Munich in the semi-final and they are in familiar territory having won three of the last four Champions League finals. Liverpool, meanwhile, are on course for a sixth title after losing to Roma in italy but winning 7-6 on aggregate to progress to the final in Kiev. While the Olympic Stadium has a capacity of 63,000 for the final, just 40,700 tickets have been made available to fans and the general public. Each finalist will be allocated 17,000 tickets to distribute among their fans and a further 6,700 tickets were available via UEFA's ticket portal. The application window to purchase tickets from UEFA has now closed, having run from March 16 to March 22. Applicants were able to apply for a maximum of two tickets per person and successful applicants should expect to receive their tickets by mid May. There are four price categories for tickets being sold to the general public: Category 1 tickets are the most expensive at €450, Category 2 tickets cost €320, Category 3 tickets are priced at €160 and Category 4 tickets are €70. Category 1 seats are located centrally, on either side of the pitch, while Category 2 seats are mainly on the sides of the main and opposite stands. Category 3 seats are behind the goals and Category 4 seats are also behind the goals, but in the upper and lower tiers. As well as the four categories, UEFA also offers an 'accessibility package', which is designed for wheelchair and easy access. This is priced at €70 and includes a free companion ticket. A 'youth package' is also available for one adult and one child under the age of 14. The package includes two Category 2 tickets (which are normally priced at €320 each) and costs €140. According to UEFA, the remaining 22,300 tickets will be distributed among the local organising committee, commercial partners and broadcasters, as well as UEFA and national associations. 1 Share
