ACU Student Develops Multipurpose Cleaners From Combined Food & Fruit Waste by sauta(m): 7:08am On May 09, 2018 |
The accumulation of organic domestic wastes and constant usage of chemically induced domestic and industrial products such as chemical fertilizers, insecticides, and detergents in our daily routine has contributed to worse pollution situations and dangerous health deteriorating conditions in individuals. Whenever we chose to use such products made with synthetic chemicals, we tend to pollute the underground waters, rivers and the surrounding ecosystem because these conventional products we use contain phosphate, nitrate, ammonia, chlorine and many other harmful chemicals. The accumulated effect of these chemicals that are released from every household contaminates the environment. David Oluwatobiloba Adeyemi, A final year student of Microbiology, Ajayi Crowther University saw the need to utilize these domestic waste into products with positive contribution to the daily life of man and his environment as well as to derive eco-friendly products that are inexpensive and would serve as better alternatives to all their chemically induced domestic and industrial counterparts thereby developing a multipurpose eco-friendly miracle cleaning product 3times more effective, safer, cheaper and reliable than all similar chemically induced product in the federation from the recycling of fruit and food waste. David who showcased his miracle product during the Science Week Exhibition hosted by The Faculty of Natural Science explained how he accidentally discovered during the course of a waste to energy management survey around his vicinity that fruit and vegetable ends and odds could be turned into multipurpose enzyme solutions which he called Eco-E. These are excellent household helpers which can serve as an effective household and laundry cleaner, air purifier, car wash, cleanser and even organic fertilizer of which he has been able to DIY fresh kitchen waste at negotiable cost, producing an effective multipurpose solution that is useful and beneficial to the environment. According to the genius, the aim of the development of eco-E is to promote healthy living, curb food wastage and support a conducive garbage free environment by producing eco-friendly homemade natural cleaners such as (organic bleach, pot scrubs, dish, toilet and fabric washers, disinfectants, body care solutions, air freshener and purifier, fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides) from 100% organic fruit, food or vegetable wastes as alternatives to all their chemical counterparts which contain toxic substances. During the test run of the product, eco-E while used as a disinfectant was seen to last 72 hours longer than almost 5 different regular chemically induced disinfectant in the country. While in comparison with the regular dish and fabric washers, the cleaning ability of the product was also seen to be 3 times more effective and faster in breaking down oils, blood and even cashew juice stains. Not to also forget to mention how effective it is in purifying waste and domestic water. eco-E when diluted and mixed with body creams, shampoos, bathing soaps, and other skin/body care materials go a long way in reducing the chemical harshness of the product thereby cutting down possible cases of allergy or reactions by 75%. When mixed with farm feeds, eco-E could play an important role in boosting the immune system of the animals as well as producing more quality product by product or product. In agriculture, diluted eco-E plays an important role in enriching the soil, protecting the plants from insect pests as well as promoting a healthier crop by contributing to greener leaves thereby increasing the rate of photosynthesis. Every function listed above has a required dilution expected to be followed in other to achieve it. During its production (eco-E), ozone which plays an important role in improving air quality and repairing the atmosphere is emitted making it an excellent air freshener and purifier. While contacted via his Instagram page IG:@Innovative_David about the future plans of the product, he stated that he intends on making it become a household name as the function of this product would go a long way in making a positive contribution to community health and the environment. “I have been able to single-handedly produce 50 liters worth of this product which is still in its incubation state and working tirelessly and hand in hand with a friend in Thailand on possible ways in deriving an inexpensive herbal health drink called “Eco-Herbal” from this same product. Also, I am currently working on Rapid Plasters & Bandages called “Eco-Aid Injury Therapy” that could contribute to healing burns, cuts and other grades of injuries 2 times faster than the normal time. Lastly which is very important to us is the “Eco-Lady Care” which are wipes and tampons capable of reducing toilet infections in ladies by 70%. It has been a very tough but interesting task and I am happy we are making progress.” He said. When asked about possible investors, he added: “I currently have not received any requests or offers but we are opened for that as it plays a crucial role in the future of this product”. David Adeyemi’s “Project ENERGEM” which focuses on generating energy from methane won the Lagos Model United Nations 2017 Idea Fair for powering his house using biogas. In October 2017, was made “Ambassador of Youth” by the Nigerian Heritage Icons and December 2017 he was named the “Most Outstanding Student in Nigeria” by the All Youth Behind Awards. Little wonder why he is called “Innovative David” by everyone. He is the host of "Innovations with David" on National Youth Network where he will be tasked to address Global Issues by developing executable and realistic project ideas that would serve as solution pathways to the problems within the 24 hours time frame. Here is a link to his first video demonstrating "Counter Terrorism Z" a device created to reduce the rate of suicide bombing attack by Making security operatives see through clothes. http://thenyn.tv/talk-shows-innovations-with-david-episode-1-counter-tourism-z/ David can be reached on the following: IG: @Innovative_David Facebook: David Tobiloba Adeyemi Email: tobiadeyemi2009@gmail.com source: http://www.afroparrot.com/2018/05/ajayi-crowther-university-student.html cc: Richiez, Fynestboi, olawalebabs
