hmmm, story undecided

you want to tell us here that Nigerians are not capable of handling what is their own,

that our level of manpower is not sufficient enough for the work at hand needed to support the country's economy, so its reasonable to bring in foreigners to do the work??

especially hungry ones, with little or no education and experience in any manufacturing field whatsoever?? you can't be serious . . . so they should come and finish the small food we are managing here, isn't it angry

They should be deported together with the parent that send them out to beg

^^can you explain why the girl speaks such good yoruba if she's foreign? She was either born in nigeria or has spent most of her life there.

in any case, foreign or not, these kids need to be taken off the streets and put in school.

that alone will discourage the parents or whoever their sponsors are, since they depend on the kids to bring them income from begging.

Why not just annex Niger to Nigeria? , Just an idea,

The article said that "about seven million people in Niger - about half the population - are short of food". and that these hungry people are flocking to Nigeria. we might as well annex the land that these 7 million ppl are coming from. and use the minerals in there land to help them, or help ourselves. wink

Is there any laws on the books that said if u are a foreigner born in Nigeria then u are automatically a citizen?
I dont thnk so. . .so either she was born here or spent most of her life here begging
she is still not Nigerian.  .we have enough problems of our own as it is. .

Obviously u cant force the parents to send her to school.  .as they are most likely nomadic beggars
so the only viable option is to send them back to Niger

No,
our government needs to stop being corrupt and there would no need for our own kids to go hungry.

true talk,
if a niger kid was born and raised in nigeria, then she's partly nigerian, cos its her only home.
It would'nt be fair to send those kind of kids back where they do not know.

She's nigerian. You're just assuming she's not because she was begging. You cant just dump someone in a foreign country simply because they look different from you.

the video posted is different from the story in the original post.

in any case, Nigerian or not, these beggars should be rehabilitated.

The security implcation of so many unemployed hungry and desperate people in such an are that that has a notorious history of religious crisis. It iss not a hidden fact that a lot of this so called refugees are the foot soldiers that are used during this crisis. Due to their desperate situation they are easily exploited. That an immigration officer says there is very littel they can do is rather sad, that is a flicky excuse for not doing their job. they could check the influx by creating a refugee camp and feeding them there instead of letting them in to the city.

*UPDATE

The WFP, which plans to assist 3.6 million people in the coming months, has described the humanitarian situation in the four affected countries (Chad, Niger, Mali & Northern Cameroon) as "critical", and says the hunger season is expected to last at least until the next harvest in September.

hell no lol.

you mean to tell me you wanna add that many more poor mouths to the feeding table?
and im not trying to be a tribalist but it would completely through off the ethnic balance and make nigeria and muslim nation. plus most of if not all of their land is useless and were not even close to using 10% of ours.
