Australia and NewZealand have now become very popular study abroad destinations for international students. This is because these two countries have the facilities to equip students with the needed skills to become competent in their fields of study. Unfortunately, only very few are aware of the cost involved in studying and living in these two beautiful countries, the more reason why I have decided to put up this article. So in today's article, we shall be looking at the cost of studying and living in Australia and New Zealand as an international students. Lets start with Australia.


Australia

Australia is a country and continent surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. Australia's major cities – Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide – are coastal. Its capital, Canberra, is inland. The country is known for its Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, a vast interior desert wilderness called the Outback, and unique animal species like kangaroos and duck-billed platypuses.

Cost of studying in Australia

According to research by HSBC, Australia is one of the most expensive countries for international students. To study in Australia you will need about $20,000 to $30,000 for tuition fees annually. Living cost too is on the high side. For feeding, accommodation, transportation etc a student needs about $12,000 per year.

Here is the breakdown:

Accommodation

Hostels and Guesthouses - $90 to $150 per week
Shared Rental - $85 to $215 per week
On campus - $90 to $280 per week
Homestay - $235 to $325 per week
Rental - $165 to $440 per week
Boarding schools - $11,000 to $22,000 a year

Other living expenses

Groceries and eating out - $80 to $280 per week
Gas, electricity - $35 to $140 per week
Phone and Internet - $20 to $55 per week
Public transport - $15 to $55 per week
Car (after purchase) - $150 to $260 per week
Entertainment - $80 to $150 per week

New Zealand

Capital Wellington, on the North Island, is home to Te Papa Tongarewa, the expansive national museum. Wellington’s dramatic Mt. Victoria, along with the South Island’s Fiordland and Southern Lakes, stood in for mythical Middle Earth in Peter Jackson’s "Lord of the Rings" films.
