About the Company

Our client, a rapidly growing, licensed fund manager based in Lagos is strengthening its executive leadership. Founded by internationally experienced investors, it is focused on delivering value to Nigerian investors, leveraging its independent standing and flexibility.

The company is creative, long term -minded and resilient, aimed at a technology enabled operating strategy.

The right candidate will have:

• Technical expertise: Experienced in valuation of securities, the candidate should be a self starter who can value any financial instrument and build systems to enable their analysis and monitoring. Proficiency in excel and other financial software is a minimum, as well as demonstrable ability to select and evaluate investments.
• Administrative competence: The candidate should have experience managing a team of analytical professionals, including building and supervising financial modelling exercises, in the Nigerian environment. Detail orientation will be key.
• Stamina/Hard working ethic: The job will entail long hours including weekend hours. Candidates should be prepared to push hard to enable change, working long hours and traveling at least twice a month.
• Responsiveness to data and feedback: We believe in reality based operations, where market realities are leveraged to create solutions that work without excuses. The role will involve the analysis and evaluation of large amounts of data. The ideal candidate will be quantitative and able to respond appropriately.
• Marketing: The candidate should have experience planning and launching marketing campaigns, especially for B2B segments.

The Role
• Leading the buildout of a mass-affluent fund management portfolio for a SEC licensed asset manager
• Assist in marketing and business planning
o Identify target customers and screen for ideal/attractive categories
o Put together operational plan for reaching customers and raising their awareness
o Execute planning and working to pre-agreed targets, raise funds from customers
• Lead investment process
o Prepare fund documentation for regulatory and investor engagement
o Engage with regulators
Qualifications
• 1st Class or 2nd Upper Degree in economics, business, mathematics, statistics or another quantitative field
• MBA from a top tier business school preferred
• 5-10 years of professional experience in asset management with fixed income and equity experience. Fund launch experience would be an asset.
• Experience dealing with regulatory filings and leadership
