The Senate on Tuesday received the much-awaited report on the 2018 Appropriations Bill from its Committee on Appropriations. Presentation of the budget comes six months after President Muhammadu Buhari presented the N8.612 trillion proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly. The report was laid at plenary by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe) and seconded by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Accounts, Matthew Urhoghide (PDP, Edo). President Buhari had submitted the proposal, tagged ‘Budget of Consolidation’ to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 7, 2017, with a call on the legislature to quickly pass the budget and return to January to December budget cycle.
