Real Madrid have congratulated local rivals Atletico Madrid After securing the Europa League Title in Lyon.

A double from Antoine Griezzman who now has 30 goals for the season and a late strike from Gabi to seal the win.

The victory earned them some praise from Real Madrid, who face Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 26 in Kiev.

The La Liga giants tweeted:

“Congratulations @Atleti for the @EuropaLeague title obtained tonight in Lyon.”

Atletico's third Europa League Title leaves them level with Sevilla who successfully defended the trophy twice between 2013/14 and 2015/16.

Speaking after Atletico’s win, Griezmann said: “I am very happy.
