THAT DAY...
EPISODE 1.

Vera for the last 30 minutes had fixed her gaze on the toilet's large mirror. She stared at herself as though she had never seen a reflection of herself. Her hair was weaved all back. The hair had not been plaited throughout the previous month- March. She only weaved it herself because that was the rule for the almighty MBBS exams.

Her cheek had become flat like a wall and her dimples had become history. Her eyes watered but no tears dropped. She would not let them. Her once bright eyes had become reddened as though she smoked all day. Her lips were so dry that they could absorb a gallon of water. She was just a shadow of her former self. So thin she was that she could break if she bent carelessly.

She turned the tap on and washed her face. She walked to the exam hall barefooted. Though no one wore foot wears into the hall, Vera through out the exam walked to the exam hall from her hostel barefooted. Her steps were as though they were calculated maintaining same distance with each step. She had her pen pinned to a corn row of her hair. The breeze blew her gown in different directions as though it would soon blow her to Jupiter planet. She was 50 minutes late to the exam. Others had started the Anatomy exam. Vera went to the supervisor who searched her before she entered the hall. She was allowed in because the Physiology professor had told the external supervisor during the last exams all about Vera's problem. She walked to her seat, filled in her details and stared at the question paper. While others were crying about the exam, Vera like the Queen of England elegantly submitted her empty paper and walked away.

THAT DAY....
EPISODE 2

Vera walked straightforward to her corner in her room. Her roommates Zainab and Paschaline her roommates greeted but she maintained her quietness. They greeted not expecting any response. Vera practically had spoken to no one in the last one month. It all started when Vera came back on the night of 20th May at 8pm. She had gone to see her brother the previous evening and unlike Vera, she never called and for the first time slept at his brother's as presumed by her roommates.

They had called her and even her brother Victor but no one answered. Vera, came in that night with no difference from a mad woman. Her well packed hair was scattered and covered her face that Paschaline had wondered how she saw her way back home. There were red stains on her light-blue gown. Vera had left the room on 3 inches high heels only to come back bare footed. She walked to her bed mute despite all the questions her roommates bombarded her with. She covered the blanket to her face and that was when Zainab and Paschaline gave up.

They only hoped to get an explanation in the morning but that never happened. The shattering of ceramics at 2am woke Zainab and Paschaline up. Surprisingly enough, Vera was in the mood for destruction. Besides the shattering of plates, the egusi soup Paschaline made and the zobo drink Zainab made had been turned upside down. Paschaline's scream woke Zainab up. The two watched her break the eva wine her brother Victor got her some days ago. Vera turned the remaining bottle piece to her stomach.
