I happen to know this girl who is a church person but I think she's losing it and I fear for her. Imagine a student who isn't working making pledges without source of income and the pastor or whoever he is doesn't see any wrong in it. I won't if she will have any saving once she starts working.

How do I talk sense into her?

It's pride. She couldn't see herself seating down among those who don't have so in order not to be looked down on, she decided to join those who had to make pledge.

Don't give her, and tell her to learn how to live within her means.

When I don't have, I go to church on empty hands 'cause God knows I don't have as the pastor is mortal who can't search the heart of people. I remember going to one church on campus and when it was offering time, the pastor made it seem like if you don't have offering you shouldn't be in church but I didn't care provided God knows I don't have I can't steal nor beg to put offering.

Thats what they do in school back then. Churchy guys devicing all kind of cunning tricks to eat fron your ingredientless beans in the hostel then go to FCS in the evening and pledge 10k

Some even pay tithe self from the money that is not enough hoping to reap like the israelites in the wilderness but at the end of the day struck with FIs

....and i say to some of them then that, if you did not found your own church after NYSC then you re just wasting your scarce resources on people that have much more than even your parent.

let even say nothing is wrong in tithing but to me its a double tithing if your parent have already pay on that very income they gave you from.....

Pure manipulate technique that makes most members feel unnecessary guilt. Imagine someone with no job looking for money to give a pastor that properly have enough. I don't care what she does with her personal money but to collect from someone to give a pastor....... I already told her I need to talk with her in person.

Our orientation from grassroot level needs to change. People really believe in giving God 2k to get a great reward or a miracle rather than working hard.

I agree with you on this, pastors should stop manipulating us into giving, they are indirectly telling us to get money by hook or crook.

tomorrow, they stand on pulpit to condemn prostitution, abeg I can't come go and kill meself.

I could remember one Sunday I went church, after normal offering which I managed to get, pastor came up with up another another special seed offering, hmm where I wan get that one ni? I sat back jeje but the kind look we pastor give me ehh e no be here

most time when you see people drop empty envelope or tore money in offering box don't blame them coux nobody want to be tagged an enemy of progress in church or stingy
