In continuation of our quest for a result oriented, effective and efficient representation for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, as promised we will be bringing to you the profiles of those who have so far shown interest to stand as our Reps in the NASS come 2019. Chuks Akamadu, currently in his early forties, was born into the family of Nze and late Mrs Gold Akamadu of Umuokehi Obiohuru in Ikenga Autonomous Community, Ohuhu, Umuahia north LGA, he began his primary school education at Orieamaenyi Central School, Umuyota Alike, Ohuhu Umuahia. After his primary education, he gained entry into Government Secondary School, Owerri in 1989 where he came tops in his Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) with 12 distinctions in 12 subjects. He was to later obtain his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE) from Government Secondary School, Yashikira. The young and intelligent Chuks Akamadu was admitted into the law faculty of the University of Lagos where he graduated with an (LL.B) law in 2003, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School and passed out with a (BL) in 2004. Chuks’ insatiable appetite for knowledge took him to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations where he obtained a diploma and a professional certificate in Public Relations respectively, in 2012. Chuks Akamadu became a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Project Management in 2013 had equally acquired a post graduate diploma (PGD) in Tourism Management at the Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Tourism in 2014. Barrister Akamadu by virtue of his intellectual giftedness was inducted into the full membership of the Nigerian Institute of Management, he also enjoys the full membership of the Institute of Tourism Professionals and the prestigious Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. He is also an alumnus of International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi, India where studied Corporate Governance and Excellence in Management of Public Enterprises. SKILLS Barrister Chuks Akamadu apart from offering legal services is also sufficiently skilled in Management, Human rights and good citizenship advocacy, Marketing Strategies & Campaigns, Corporate Communications, Creative Team Leadership, Project designing, Public & Media Relations, New Product Launch, Corporate governance, Conflict resolution and Image management. CAREER EXPERIENCE Barrister Akamadu started off his working experience in the year 2000 as a Marketing Executive with Capital Guards Limited, Lagos, he got another opportunity in 2004 as Head, Media & Publicity, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) 2005 due largely to his proficiency and dexterity, Barrister Akamadu was elevated to the position of Secretary General of PMAN in 2005. From 2006 to 2007, he did his National Youths Service at the law firm of Adetunji Agagbe in Ede Local Government Area of Osun State where he sharpened his legal skills. In 2007, he became the General Manager, 360 Entertainment Limited, Port-Harcourt after which he in 2008 established Afrocultour Limited, a company famous for its annual Songs of Nigeria Festival (SONIFES). He remains till date a director of Afrocultour Limited and doubles as Executive Secretary of SONIFES. Versed and versatile, Barr. Akamadu has also had the honour of serving as a Rapporteur with the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Civil Society Organizations and Development Partners in 2016. NATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS Barrister Chuks Akamadu has been involved in a number of national assignments. In 2005 he was appointed Member, National Mirror Committee on Social Responsibility Standards by the Federal Government. In 2011 he brought his scholarly side to bear when he authored the Nigeria Centenary Celebrations Concept Note; the basis upon which President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as the only private sector member of the Presidential Committee on Nigeria Centenary Celebrations with the then Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as chairman in 2011. It was in that capacity that he proposed for the upgrade of National War Museum Umuahia. As part of commitment to eradicate drug abuse, which has become a very challenging societal malady, in 2017 Barr. Chuks Akamadu spearheaded, under the auspices of his non-governmental organization, the Centre for Ethical rebirth Among Nigerian Youths (CERANY) the formation of a National Alliance Against Drug Abuse (NAADA) which currently is engaged in a frontal war against the menace of drug abuse across the nation. PUBLICATIONS Barrister Chuks Akamadu’s penmanship came into the fore in 1996 and since then he has published over 300 essays and articles (locally & internationally whilst some of his published books include, JOURNEY TO SANITY: The CERANY Challenge (2005) and Voluntary Union: A Centenary Imperative (2014) (His books are available at Amazon). He was the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the university of Lagos (UNILAG) periodic magazine, The Conscience. In 2017 he became the Editor of Discovery Magazine - a publication of The Life Centre (TLC) parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Abuja. COMMUNITY SERVICE Barr. Akamadu served his village as Vice Chairman, Umuokehi Youths for Change in 1999 and as Speaker, Umuokehi Global assembly in 2013. He co-founded Ohaneze Orieamaenyi in 2012, served Ohuhu as member of Ohuhu Welfare Union (OWU) Federated Constitution Review Committee in 2012 and member of Ohuhu Day Planning Committee 2017. He is currently Vice Chairman of Orieamaenyi Family Union, Abuja. AWARDS AND RECOGNITION Chuks Akamadu graduated with 12 Distinctions in 12 subjects and was honoured with an award of the Best Graduating Student” in Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination in the entire Imo State in 1991, he was also decorated with an Ambassador of Peace Awards” by Methodist Church Umuokehi in 2012, Outstanding Personality of the Year Award by LEADS-Africa, Aha Eji Aga Mba 1 by Women Wing of Ohuhu Welfare Union (OWU), Owerri, Champion of the Youths award by National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) – 2015 and Excellence award by Reigners Glorious Mission, Umuahia. OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS Barrister Akamadu has got an aggregate of outstanding achievements both in his career and public life. He founded what is today known and celebrated across the country as Songs of Nigeria Festival (SONIFES) in 2009, he also Founded, Nigerian Universities Arts and Culture Festival (NUACFEST) in 2011. In 2012 Chuks Akamadu became the Editor-in-Chief of Who’s Who in Abuja Hospitality Industry, he founded the Centre for Ethical Rebirth Among Nigerian Youths (CERANY) in 2001 and served as the Pioneer President between 2001 – 2006 and has also served as its Chairman, Board of Trustees. He created the Chuks Akamadu Foundation, a foundation that has helped in reshaping the lives of the Nigerian youths, through education and has also rehabilitated so many drug addicts and people with drug abuse related ailment. Barrister Akamadu is the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation. Barrister Akamadu came into active politics in 2012 and in 2014 he contest and won the primary elections of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and stood election as a candidate in the 2015 Abia central senatorial zone election which the incumbent governor, Chief T.A Orji won. Chuks Akamadu’s venture into politics was borne out of his desire and love for human capital and infrastructural development, he has used his foundation to assist the less privileged to gain education and other legitimate means of livelihood, and has also used his pet project “National Alliance Against Drug Abuse” to rehabilitate youths that are addicted to hard drugs, Barr. Akamadu has also conducted and financed workshops and seminars across the nation aimed at encouraging youths to stay off drugs and criminality, he believes that through effective legislation that we can attract development and positive change to our society. He believes also the society desperately needs people with a SERVICE-CALLING who has verifiable track record of service. Chuks Akamadu ESQ., FIPMN, M.IoD, MNIM, MNIPR, MITP, Nko Abia as he is widely known has this time around indicated interest to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia in the National Assembly and he is aspiring for the seat of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). 1 Like 2 Shares
