Still FRSC will claim doing the needful when operative officers on the road has deviated from checking necessary thing rather than extortion on high way.
FRSC leadership should sensitize their men to focus on safety that asking for money.

Smh....I don't believe in showcasing stats of car accidents....and that's because there are many fatal accidents that have occurred and haven't been recorded...hence,this stat is inaccurate!

however,I was expecting to see how such numbers can be either reduced or totally restricted to just minor injuries.....and that's because just one life is so important....

So the question is.....what are the solutions that were proffered to ensure the roads are free of accidents esp fatal ones?

Has there been a kind of cooperation of FRSC with private and public transport companies to ensure their employees esp are professional and abide with safety rules?

When will FRSC ensure stricter penalties for unprofessional and reckless drivers and their companies?

If we don't seek solutions or ask the right questions for this recurring accidents, then the so called stats being showcased in the last three months will be a child's play compared to what will be witnessed in the coming months....The time for action is now not later!

These are very shocking statistics.

The National Bureau of Statistics recently release data which showed that 1,292 Nigerians have been killed in road accidents in the last three months across the nation.

According to the report, 1,292 Nigerians got killed in the road traffic crashes recorded in the first quarter of 2018, saying that 1,186 of the 1,292 Nigerians who got killed, representing 92% of the figure, were adults while the remaining 106 Nigerians, representing 8% of the figure, were children.

The report added that 1,008 male Nigerians, representing 78%, got killed in road crashes in the first quarter while 284 female Nigerians, representing 22% got killed.

“The first quarter of 2018 road transport data reflected that 2,482 road crashes occurred. Speed violation is reported as the major cause of road crashes in the first quarter and it accounted for 50.81% of the total road crashes reported. Tyre burst and dangerous driving followed closely as they both accounted for 8.26% and 8.42% of the total road crashes recorded,” it said.

According to the data, a total of 8,466 Nigerians got injured in the road traffic crashes recorded, while 7,773 of the 8,466 Nigerians who got injured, representing 92% of the figure, were adults and the remaining 693 Nigerians, representing 8% of the figure were children. and to think that I came up with a solution to this problem. Took six months to draw up a proposal, structure and action plan to drastically reduce the accident statistics, sent a letter to Fed Minister of Transport Amechi. Got called for a meeting. Travelled from PH to Abuja more than once. Was in his private waiting room... Waiting to see him but this man let politics get the better of him. Worst part is, my proposal could have generated billions in revenue for the government, employed thousands, etc... Yet he didn't give me a chance to present it to him. This government doesn't care about us. Only themselves and their politics.
