South African military officer dismissed from service over racial comment he made on social media

A South African military officer, Major MV Mohlala, has been dismissed from service over racial comments he made on Facebook.

Mohlala had left a vile comment in a post shared by the son of an 80-year-old white man, Pastor Braam van Wyk, who was attacked at his home in Randburg on March 10th.

In response to the post, Mohlala commented that worse things should have been done to the man.

''Should actually have poked out his eyes and tongue so that the last people he would ever see, were the killers and he could go to his grave with the nightmare.” Apartheid is in him. All of these old white people think we are stupid when they say they were opposed to apartheid. We will not forget what they have done. Now it is the white people’s turn.” Mohlala wrote

After much deliberation by the military authority, he has been dismissed from office. See a copy of his dismissal letter below

This is what most people are yet to understand. Once you are working for the government, don't take sides on social media whether for or against.

This could cost you your job. I have seen someone given a query because of his comment on Facebook, even though his boss wanted to show himself

I talk anyhow on social media because i work for a private firm.

In Nigeria they get accolades from party supporters and get retained and promoted by the president.

Just three days a go the customs boss did it and he was praised.

Soldiers and police have posted worse here.

A police threatened blood on Nigerians should Buhari die in London last year on a ground he was presumed poisoned.

SA is one country in Africa.

People should be careful about what they type on SM. Not everyone that likes your post are your friends. Some are just following waiting for an opportunity to set you up.

Not only racist comment self,
The comment is terroristic

The soldier self go feel am because he would loose a better welfare package but here in Nigeria, the reverse is the case, the only time we hear of the military is on their remembrance day grin grin grin

At least it was a genuine reason, here they would lay off senior military/policemen without reason shocked shocked shocked or to promote one of their own i.e

Current IGP grin grin grin

The giant of African still has a lot to learn from all these davids or should I say the dwarfs of africa grin grin grin

These are too harsh, just imagine the sane scenario playing out and the victims were black and a white soldier, there'll be protests on the streets of Pretoria and Johannesburg by now.

This is what accountability means in government

His superiors brought the weight of the law on him in the interest of national unity

Buhari will instead mumble something about how the former government said worse.

The man is still living in the past.

Things become worse when we refuse to leave the past and its painful memories.

We have same problem here. Our leaders and even our security outfit act and even make policies in respect to the civil war we had in the past.

The hatred and the despise reflect in our politics and government policies.

Discharging him like dat doesn't solve the problem. Imagine, he's a military officer with so much hate in him. With all his training and all, there should be other corrective measures after his discharge. People like dat constitutes nuisance to the populace. We have had issues like that in 9ja here... But what do I know am just a corper collecting 19800
