23 Unknown Weird Facts About Your Body by Harwal: 6:33pm On May 24, 2018
There are so many fascinating facts about the Body and we tend to think that we know our own bodies perfectly. We know how they work and what kinds of changes and processes are occurring in them every second of the day. But in fact, the human body is one seriously complex and mysterious mechanism that sometimes confuses even the most qualified specialists.
For example, did you know that babies can only see in black and white? Or that one of your hairs can last up to 7 years on your head? Or you ever wondered how many times a minute a baby blinks? Or why babies have more bones than adults?
Well Here are 23 out of the many unknown facts about your body:
1.A man has approximately 6.8 liters of blood in the body while women have approximately 5 liters.
2.Men have erections every hour to hour and a half during sleep. This is because the combination of blood circulation and testosterone production can cause erections during sleep and are a necessary part of REM sleep.
3.When you blush, the inside of your stomach does too.
4.Humans have a “diving reflex” that shuts down bodily functions when submerged in water to prevent drowning.
5.In cases of extreme starvation, the brain will begin to eat itself.
6.The human brain is the fattest organ in the body, which contains 100 billion neurons or nerve cells (15 times the total human population on earth) and a trillion glial cells and has around 150,000 miles of blood vessels.
7.The cracking sound made by knuckles, necks, backs, and other joints when they’re cracked is the sound of bubbles popping in the joints’ fluid. Is it harmful? Not terribly. But cracking a joint too often can hurt the cords, called ligaments, that surround the joint
8.Sweat doesn’t smell bad. A stinky “body odour” is caused when the skin bacteria feed on sweat. Their waste products are what smell bad.
9.You can’t breathe and swallow at the same time.
10.Babies only blink once or twice a minute, while adults average 10 times a minute.
11.Your stomach acid is even strong enough to dissolve razor blades
12.All babies are color blind at birth, they see only black and white.
13.A normal human being can survive 20 days without eating but can survive only 2 days without drinking.
14.The body can detect taste in .0015 seconds, which is faster than the blink of an eye.
15.Sneezes regularly exceed 100 mph, while coughs clock in at about 60 mph.
16. Your body gives off enough heat in 30 minutes to bring half a gallon of water to a boil.
17.It is not possible to tickle yourself. This is because when you attempt to tickle yourself you are totally aware of the exact time and manner in which the tickling will occur, unlike when someone else tickles you.
18.The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as an encyclopedia.Your brain uses 20% of the oxygen that enters your bloodstream, and is itself made up of 80% water. Though it interprets pain signals from the rest of the body, the brain itself cannot
feel pain.
19.We are about 1 cm taller in the morning than in the evening, because during normal activities during the day, the cartilage in our knees and other areas slowly compress.
20.In order to taste something your mouth has to be able to dissolve it. Try drying off your tongue before eating your favorite candy...
21.The heart beats 35 million times a year. Yes, 35 million. A year!
22.A human spends about five years of their life blinking.
23. A human makes approximately 20,000 breaths per day.
