Thank God say dem no spell Naija. I still maintain that if we play 4-3-3 with Obasi and Odemwingie running at Gutierrez and Heinze, we could have troubled them. |

I tink Lagerback is a good coach. He's done well! |

and Vincent saved Eagles from disgrace! What a lacklustre performance!! Clearly, the team lacked urgency, poor link btw d midfield and attack, Eagles, go get a real playmaker, Haruna is good, but plays too much on d defense!!! |

we should have equalised, argentina's defence was weak, our players were just psychologically intimated by messi and co. haba,we couldnt even pass the ball, even the argentines were scared of us,and we didnt even use that to our advantage |
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by rubaslipa: 5:03pm On Jun 12, 2010 |
Even with the mighty Enyeama, not being able to score is a fatal weakness. Where are the comments from the 50% who voted in the poll that Naija would discipline Argentina? |

Don't blame Largerback. It is only few amongst coaches who can take players in a short time and win a match like today's. I expect a win in the rest of the matches in this group stage. |

bawomolo: Unflipping believeable! You see what I am talking about? Please someone tell me if they have seen much difference in this team based on this game from when it was under Amodu. But when they see white, they give seal of approval. Unflipping believeable! Argentina dominate and could easily have scored 4 or 5 or 6. At best we would score 2. |

We just need to learn to respect our own is anyone suggesting that Siasia would not have played better against this Argentina side. I honestly believe the Argentina olympic team in 2008 is better than this one and yet we held our own on the day. |

bawomolo: Our best SE team lost to Argentina in 1994 so Lagerback did well. . . . . . No one really expected us to beat Argentina with this side - all we asked for was to COMPETE and i think the boys turned it ON late in the game. It was a LOSS quite alright but i don't think Amodu woulda done better. A cud-chewing Amodu Shuiabu wouldnt have made the changes that brought the best out of our game. |

Lagerback had about a month to put this team together. I think he has done a decent job. |
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Gayigaskia(m): 5:08pm On Jun 12, 2010 |
I was never expecting Nigeria to play Arg like this. Anybody doubting Nigeria in this world cup will eat his mouth. Lar is a very good coach. South Korea and Greece can never match Nigeria foot to foot. Despite losing by one zero, I am proud of Nigeria. I was expecting aleast four or five goals from Arg. God be with our goal keeper. For those who doubt Nigeria from day one, may God see you all tru. Nigeria and Arg will go to next round. NAGODE, THANK, MERCI BEAUCOUP |

Reading some of these replies, I am oustanded and this is the problem with Nigeria today, we always settle for less. We were absolutely shit and another team would have seriously punished Argentina becasue their defence was shit. It was a case of defending and countering simple, but our players are not fit and clearly lack ability. Lets face the fact we really shit because our goalie was our best player. What did Kaita, Obasi, the guy that played right back, uche and nnsofor offer us, abslolutely nothing but dead brain football. I am really really ticked off. |
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by Sagamite(m): 5:09pm On Jun 12, 2010 |
~Sauron~: Sauron, DO NOT EVEN START! So the gutless performance now is the fault of the players? But under Amodu, it is because he lacked tactics and can not motivate them? What is different from the structure of Lagerback vs that of Amodu? The same 4-3-3? When Amodu made subs in 3 vital games that had impact. It is "why did he start Yakubu"? DON't EVEN START! |
Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by lastpage: 5:09pm On Jun 12, 2010 |
In Summary: ARGENTINA *Argentina are not the "dreaded side" that we think they are! *Messi had so many chances (about seven in all, at least in two cases, he had only the Keeper (Enyeama) to beat but he scoffed the chances. *If l should rate his performance today, he was just AVERAGE, and to hink he is the World's Best footballer? Argentina was weak in the defense line but Nigeria failed to exploit their Right and Left full back's weakness. NIEGRIA. *Enyeama was fantastic. His performance today could earn him a call-up to Real Madrid or Barccelona. Any world-class team would be proud to have Enyeama within its goal post. *Yakubu scoffed a few chances, l guess "Age" cannot be cheated! Age has caught up with him. He, like most of his team mates, especially Etuhu, Odia, looked tired just 30mins into the game. *Nigerian forward-line players lacked imagination and l begin to wonder what input, if anything at all, Mr. LagerBeer has contributed for his colossal Summer Holiday Pay? *If we had a good forward line, we could have easily beaten Argentina today. *We are very poor in marking or tackling, when it cones to "set-paces" like corner kicks! *All Nigeria's corner kicks were absolute waste. Most went from right corner and dropped-down at the left corner! Maybe that was a "new-style", courtesy of Coach LagerBeer In all, Argentina once again confirmed that when it comes to the National tean, they are not that good but individually at club level, each player except that one that plays for Newcastle (Left full Back), are splendid. Nigeria's performance lacked purpose, imagination and precision. Most passes we made went to the opposing player. We looked so tired and fagged-out you will wonder whether the players had a party over-night. It was sheer luck that we lost 1-0, the score line could have been something like 7-1 if Messi and Higuain were on target as expected. We can still qualify if we win the next two games and that can only happen if our players "get more energy from somewhere/something like a "Nuclear reactor" |
