The atmosphere was solemn and tearful at Umuobiakwa community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State as the remains of late Mrs. Nwamaka Nkolika Maduchukwu was laid to rest today. Late Mrs Maduchukwu, a staff of Abia State Ministry of Information on secondment to the government house Umuahia died in an accident while returning from an official engagement with the contingent of the wife of the Governor on April 3 2018. Speaking at the funeral service conducted at Umuobiakwa Primary School, the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, said Mrs. Maduchukwu was an integral part of his administration, who contributed greatly in the smooth running of the office of the Wife of the Governor. The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, said death is an appointment which gives nobody any option, hence, the need for all to do good work as everyone would be remembered by his work. He assured the children of the deceased that Abia State government would not forget the services of their mother but would take adequate care of the family, encouraging all to take solace in the hope of eternal life. Also speaking, a tearful Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, said the demise of Mrs. Nwamaka Maduchukwu remains a shock to her. She however urged all to take heart in the belief that she would be seen again on the resurrection morning. In a sermon, the resident Pastor, Living Faith Church, Winners Chapel, Ihie-Ndume, Umuahia, Pastor Aderemi Adekunle charged people to live a good life while on Earth so as not to regret at the end of life. The man of God, who preached on the topic , "Understanding the purpose of life" took his text from Job chapter 32:8 and urged all to surrender their lives to God. He expressed joy that Mrs. Maduchukwu lived a life worthy of emulation as a good Christian woman and enjoined the children not to shed tears but to have confidence in God, who is able to take care of them. In a written tribute, the first son of the deceased, Mr. Chukwuebuka Maduchukwu described their mother as one who lived a life of purity, honesty, humility, prestige and integrity, saying that her legacy would be remembered. He assured that while they would miss the love and care of their mother, they will strive to keep her memory alive through living a life that will honor her. The funeral service was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, members of the clergy and community leaders.
