Lionel Messi once again finished the season as the top goalscorer across Europe’s top 5 leagues, but who made up the rest of the top 10?

10. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)

30 goals in 39 games. The Argentine suffered a series of injuries throughout the campaign, but that didn’t stop him from reaching the 30-goal mark for the fourth time in his career.

9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund & Arsenal)

31 goals in 38 games. Despite switching clubs in January, rendering him ineligibil for Arsenal’s run to the Europa League semi-finals, the Gabonese didn’t lose his nose for goals.

8. Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona)

31 goals in 51 games. After being hampered by a knee injury early in the season the Uruguayan refound his scoring form in the league, though he failed to live up to expectations in the Champions League.

7. Edinson Cavani (PSG)

40 goals in 48 games. Another fine season from one of PSG’s most consistent performers in recent years.

6. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

41 goals in 48 games. The England number nine broke the Messi/Ronaldo dominance to emerge as 2017’s top goalscorer and he continued to find the net as the season went on, though it wasn’t enough for a third straight Premier League golden boot.

5. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

41 goals in 48 games. The powerful Pole continued to show why he is one of Europe’s most-feared strikers as he propelled his side to another Bundesliga title and the semi-finals of the Champions League.

4. Ciro Immobile (Lazio)

41 goals in 47 games. the Italy international finished the season as Serie A’s top goalscorer, whilst he also shone in the Europa League, albeit in a disappointing campaign for his club.

3. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

44 goals in 44 games. the Egyptian enjoyed a simply stunning debut campaign with the ‘Reds’, brekaing all manner of records as he announced his arrival among Europe’s elite forwards.
