StarTimes is currently having a promo where subscribers have the chance to win N1 million. However, there is some controversy over who the 2nd week’s winner is.

One person bought the card in his name and gave it as a gift to another person 2 years later. The receiver then entered the contest and has won but he cannot redeem the N1 million because the card is registered under the initial buyer’s name (his friend that gave the decoder as a gift).

Now, StarTimes is confused as to who to give the prize to.

See their tweet:

Your thought?
Who should get StarTimes N1,000,000 in the week 2 draw?

Also, we would like to inform our customers to ensure that their decoders have correct details.#StarTimesMillionairePromo

The money goes to the individual who entered the contest. It's simple logic. All the man who originally bought the card has to do is appear, at most give consent for the owner to collect his money. Nothing should go to the original owner.

But StarTimes seems obliged to do business with the man whose name appears on their database now.

In a court of law the suggestion I gave is the only judgement this case will receive. There's a legal saying which goes "ignorance is not an excuse.". It strongly applies here.

Your point supports my point jor. The subscriber as far as Star Times is concerned is the first person.

Abeg, we need more expert opinions from Lawyers.
