To compare between 2 things you need facts and figures. Its not simple black and white. Luxembourg is also one of the most expensive countries in the world to live in and I can tell you for free now half of that so called fat salary is going on house rent alone. High wages = High cost of living

How much of that $5,300 goes to:

Housing
Electricity
Transportation
Taxes
Grocery
Fuel
Insurance

You guys need to stop this unequal comparison.

Housing cheapest $650
Electricity $75
Tax. $675
Grocery. $350
Fuel. $500
Insurance. $150
Subtotal approx. $1800

Other unquantifiable monthly expenses put at $1500

How much will be left then you talk of savings , you just discover no basis for comparison unless you earn in dollars convert to Naira to spend in Nigeria , so my question is wont one I cure expenses before coming home or are you going to be living and eating in somebody house for free

you can Twist the story the way u like... the fact is , teachers their will still most likely live a more comfortable lives than naija doctors who are among the best paid govt workers.

some say population is why lux is better. really?, why is Ghana and other small African nations not better. lux is cool , cost of living may be high, but ur life expectancy will definitely be equally high

Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in the world and I once read somewhere were it was reported that over 20 odd years, citizens of the country haven't experienced any form of breaking and entering despite most of them leaving their doors unlocked.
Any country that wants to get it right will do so by adequate planning and putting aside religious and ethnic bigotry

how do nigerians living abroad manage to live a fairly comfortable lives and still send something home... Western world is far more organised and it's not just about how much u earn. most naija students can afford iPhones cos it too costly , since u av to pay at once and probably get no warranty. abroad , u can buy Tru ur carrier and pay gradually. here ur car money but be complete before u can buy a car... if govt can strengthen our institutions and make it more citizen friendly, people will live a more fulfilling life

That amount is even for those in the public sector. In the private sector some earn as low as $27-$30
