Can Salah Be Fit In Time For The Russia 2018 World Cup? by UpdateBoss: 11:44am On May 30, 2018 |
Mohammed Salah will be going through one of the toughest moments in his career after leaving the pitch in the 24th minute of a Champions League final where many expected the Egyptian forward to classically see out. A foul from Real Madrid's defensive maestro Sergio Ramos made sure an all sweet season for the 25-year-old became a bitter one. Not just for Salah, but also, his club Liverpool who lost out an opportunity to deny Zinedine's Zidane Madrid a record-making third consecutive Champions League crown. Despite being literally pulled to the ground, Salah's latest Twitter update proved he was upbeat about the possibility of appearing in the 2018 Mundial. "It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter. Despite the odds, I'm confident that I'll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need." Salah's optimism is not enough assurance for Egyptian citizens as Liverpool's physio Ruben Pons has estimated Salah would normally need "three to four weeks" to recover from the left shoulder injury. According to Ruben, "He is sad about what happened but he is totally focused on recovery and seeing when he can be ready. In principle, it will be three to four weeks but we are going to try to reduce those deadlines, that’s the big goal." Egypt is drawn in group A and will face Uruguay, Russia, and Suadi Arabia on June 15, 19 and 25 respectively. Following Ruben's report, Salah might sit out of the group stage games of the Pharaohs and will be hoping his team secures a spot in the round of 16. Can a miracle happen?
