How does jogging kill someone. I just started jogging routine last week, I need enlightenment please.

I have been running, jogging, jumping rope, doing abdominals and bodyweight workout, stretching and lifting weights for about 3 years now or thereabout. And I am not stopping.

This is what I have to say:

Life is a risk. People have lost their lives doing seemingly safe natural activities like eating, sleeping, exercising and so forth. There is a risk to everything.

According to Barry Franklin, the director of cardiac rehabilitation and exercise laboratories at the Beaumont hospital, "The person who’s at greatest risk of an exercise death is the person with known or hidden coronary artery disease who is habitually sedentary – a couch potato, all year round."

Exercise death is mainly caused by heart-related weaknesses. It could also be linked to very low levels of sodium in the blood, heat stroke, etc.

Moderate exercise is recommended. Don't push yourself beyond safe limits allowed by your fitness levels.

If concerned, you can check with your doctor to take such tests as 2D echo, blood pressure reading, cholesterol, blood sugar....

Hon. Stephen Ukpukpen, member representing Obudu State constituency is reported to have died this morning.

Ukpukpen was said to have gone for morning exercise walk this morning when he collapsed.

An eyewitness said he was first taken to Bakor hospital and later to UCTH where he was confirmed dead.

His body is now presently at the UCTH morgue acorcordng to the eye witness.
